Dual 1218 ground wire?

Hi everyone,

My Dual 1218 has a slight hum. I'm thinking it requires a ground connection, but it does not have a ground wire now. Does anyone know where on the chassis I should connect one?

1218's don't come from the factory with a ground wire.
One should not be necessary.
I suspect it's the headshell mounting or connections to cartridge causing your problem.

Try to make sure the headshell is seated well in the arm. When it's in there right and you move the lever to the front, you almost get a click, or you get the feeling it's locked in.

I've run a 1218 and never need a seperate ground connection.

I'm pretty sure that both the 1215 and the 1219 had ground wires (according to their manuals), and both are nearly identical to the 1218.I corrected the headshell hum earlier by cleaning the contacts. went humless for awhile, but the new hum came when I put in new, longer RCA cables. These are about 9 ft, so maybe they are building up resistance.

US models only added the separate ground wire. All others were internally grounded. Look at the archives - been discussed at length.

I searched the threads. My Dual has a "Noresco" plinth, so it's probably Canadian and internally grounded. So that's not likely the problem. I will try recleaning the headshell connections and put on shorter RCA cables, maybe that will help.
