Dual CS 5000

Just wanted to share some pics of my new Dual CS 5000. Just installed my NOS Audio-Technica AT 4000 cart and it sounds amazing :music:

Special thanks to Mike who made this possible.

Nice one. But I'd suggest to put an ATS12S on that AT body.

Greetings from Munich!

I will look into that Manfred :thmbsp:

BTW: The Nagoka MM321...good cart, bad cart couldn't find any specs on it..

I found the best combo was the ortofon OM series. I had a 20, 30 and 40 on mine. Not at the same time. The table was literally designed for it.

Nice part is that you can just buy any OM body, and then upgrade the stylus as your budget allows. Best bang for the buck was the 20 or 30. Big steps above the 10. The 40 was an improvement, but not as big a step as the 10 to 20, or the 20 to 30.

Actually, it would sound lovely even at a lousy price. :)

Good price would be icing on the cake.

I had three or four of those tables over the years. They are an awesome table, and I think terribly underrated around these parts.

Had a chat a few months back with the old importer and service shop for these. According to him, they were about the most reliable table in the dual line. They just never went bad. Aside from that, they were a great sounding table. Dual made tons of them. So many that they literally wore out the tooling.

The guy had one himself, and had an Ortofon kontrapunkt mounted on it . Apparently it sounded just great!

I have one that was given me by MarkB and it has a Shure V-15-IV on it and sounds really nice. He had a few mods done to it. I noticed new IC's so the rest must be internal. The best of luck with yours.

Glad to hear it...

I had my reservations about boxing up my SL-1200 MKII but I really like the sound of this Dual. And it's a looker as well. My girlfriend is no fan of decks and she even commented last night "That looks as good as it sounds"...from her, that says alot :D
