Dual cs505-1

I just purchased a dual cs505-1 from eBay and it came without cartridge attached, and I am having difficulty attaching it, any help would be appreciated

Move the arm lift back IIRC then place the sled/cartridge into the head assembly. Move the arm back locking the sled/cartridge into place. There should be a very small screw to insert into the top that locks everything into place.

The screws you used to attach the cartridge are in upside down. The long ends are in the way. Flip the screws around.

Can't tell, whether the orientation of the screws on the halfich-mount adaptor plate would actually be problematic in your case, as suggested by kwayde - but in any case: If the little grub screw in the headshell is installed, that will prevent the finger-lift-lever from being swivelled towards the rear, thus blocking the cartridge locking mechanism. So you'd first need to turn out the grub screw far enough, so you can swivel the finger-lift-lever towards the rear, insert the adaptor plate (plus cartridge) and then lock it by swivelling the finger-lift-lever back towards the front.

Grub screw is out and it still won't attach

Did you swivel the finger-fift-lever of the headshell towards the rear? And also important: Both of the little plastic hooks (*) of the 2nd gen. proprietary ULM mount cartridge or in your case the matching half-inch mount adaptor plate need to be intact - otherwise the locking mechanism won't hold it. Cant tell that from your pic, as that's somewhat fuzzy...

Yep, the tabs look to be gone. These adapters can be found online. Look for a half inch cartridge adapter 269-611.
 
I'll guess you're in the UK. Can't see the important side of the adapter but it looks to be correct and says 269-611.
