Hi, does anyone know the frequency response and sensitivity of the dynaco A10 speakers ?

thanks

Stereo Review tested the A-10 and found the freq response to be within 4db from 50- 15khz. Efficiency was not stated but should be similar to A-25.

A-25 frequency band: 42 to 20000kHz, impedance: 8ohms, low of 7ohms efficiency: 88dB/1W, maximum input power: 35W, box volume: 25liters.

A-25XL Fre: 40 to 20000hz imp:8ohms, low of 7ohms Eff: 91db/1w input power 50watts, BV: 25liters

A-10 fre: as "typesix" stated, approximately, the rest, very similar speaker as the A-25 except for the 6.5" woofer versus the 10" for the 25

Rob,
Can you take a picture of the crossover so I can see the capacitor and the resistors, providing you already took the woofer off.
I would like to compare with the A-25
Thanks

The A10's have a 6.5" SEAS woofer.
Sorry, I dont own A10's. Im contemplating purchasing them though.

Yes you are correct, I've had some of the spec in front of me, and still managed to make a mistake on the size of the woofer, oh well.

As for the Dynaco, there are excellent speakers. I've three pairs of the A-25, one pair with the Scan Speak drivers, and the other two with the SEAS drivers.
While refurbishing two pairs, the one with the SEAS drivers had one capacitor with a value of 5uf
The one with the Scan Speak drivers, had two mounted in parallel, one a 5uf and the other a 2.5uf.
Shortly, I will be doing the third pair. I will be interesting to see the value of its capacitor.

If you buy yours and decide to change the old cap, let me know, if you remember.
Thanks

I though you were looking at a set already. You are quite right, they are rare. I've been trying to find a pair for a while now, also, a pair of A-50

Hi Carl,

Thanks a lot for the info. I've searched for a while now on why the Scan Speak and the SEAS type A-25 had a different value on their caps.

Here are a few photos of my Scan Speak A-25 cross over.
You will notice that both speakers have different caps, all Jensen, 2 of 5uf and one of 2.5uf. The other, the Tropical Fish cap is, I believe, a 0.00025uf value, correct me If I'm wrong, but the color coded cap, reads like this, 2, 5, and power of six.
By the way, these speakers were never opened before, I'm certain of this. As far as I can tell, it's from the factory, all original.

Yours has a 8uf value, which is close to the 7.5uf mounted in parallel on one of my speaker.

On my SEAS type A-25, the value of the cap are, 5uf.
I got confirmation on this SEAS type A-25, three times now by different people.

Question one:
Why the difference

2: Can you confirm an 8uf or even a 7.5uf for that matter on the Scan Speak, as opposed to a 5uf found on the SEAS.

3: Any other info that could help.

Hi Rob,

As typesix stated, frequency from 50hz to 15000hz
Also, all Dynaco has an 8ohm impedance.

The efficiency should be better than 88db, I would say 88 to 90db. I realize this is not too accurate as a 1 or a 2 db, makes a lot of difference. It is hard to get info on efficiency on the Dynaco line. Dynaco did'nt make too many tests on their speakers like Acoustic Research or KLH for instance.
So as far as efficiency, this is only a guess on my part, a good one, but still only a guess.

Rob, if you are wondering if a small, 20w to 40w amp, will drive the A-10, my answer is yes.
The Dynaco are quite stable, they don't have any exaggerated dip. The A-25 goes from an 8ohm to just slightly below 7ohm.
All other are also very similar, from the 10 to the 50

The Dynaco are good for Rock, but they excel/shine in these types of music, Jazz, Blues, R&B, and Classical.
Rock, Metal, Bluegrass, Latino type Jazz and some other, they are better speakers on the market.
Infinyty, JBL, Klipsh, Pioneer HPM-100 and the 150, JM-Lab, B&W, and many more, are better for Rock, Metal, etc...

Your Pioneer, is an excellent Amp and rated 45w at 8ohm and 60w at 4ohm, will drive lots of speakers without difficulty, within limit that is. :D
It is always possible to fry a tweeter or just blow the amp or woofer if one exaggerate.

The 8 uF on the A 25's I have is confirmed and may be due to the very early nature of them. As you can see, SS drivers and the variovent ABOVE the tweeter all point to the learning curve.
I agree, Dynaco settled pretty much on the 5 uF later on.
That multi-colored parallel cap looks interesting.

My Pioneer SA-610 amp is only rated for 6ohms, so it says on the back of it.. :scratch2:

I had one of those multicolor caps (same exact colors/size) in my Rectilinears, and they measured 2.2 uF.
