Interesting....

That amp looks all the world like a Stromberg ASR-333/433 clone...down to the printing on the RCA jacks...:scratch2:

Aren't those advertised incorrectly? Wouldn't those be HH Scott? EH Scott made radios since Christ was a pup, but I'm not sure those are their handywork. I could be wrong, though.

Not at all....

I love my ASR-433. So do a lot of other people. To be more specific, many of my local fellow AK'ers would love to have this particular unit, and they are highly thought of in general...

Let me put it this way, I'm watching this auction with more than a little interest....:thmbsp:

I wonder if our resident Stromberg expert will pipe up...You listening Tom??...:D

Added to my watch list! Scott Radio Labs was the successor to E. H. Scott - they made a number of console radio phonographs (and television sets) in the '50s and I think this was their last gasp around 1960... the amp is a Stromberg ASR-333 with a different face plate and knobs, and the tuner is the SR-440 (also with different knobs and face plate). I've seen several of these amps on eBay, and a "Scott" label SR-445 tuner - this is the first relabeled SR-440 I've seen. I'm betting they go for less than the amp alone should go for...

I can see a Stromberg part number on the power transformer - "161000-xxx"

Bid is up....:thmbsp:

Wish me luck!...:D
Drat... I've been pondering a EL84 amp for awhile and was tempted myself, but I'm not going to get in a bidding war with a fellow AKer.

Good thing about eBay is that as long as you're willing to wait, there's always another bus. Good luck, AA!
