This one got away from me (long story) but can anyone ID the arm? I'm not well versed on this vintage stuff but it looks pretty high end for it's era. I'm just curious.

Yep, that's a Grado Laboratory Series tonearm. AK member @beatcomber has a thread about his Grado and early 60s TD-124.

I have the earlier Grado Micro-Control :

What price? It never really got that far....for me anyway.

A side or two of the the whole sad story is over in Dollars and Sense forum "Great Gear in Chicago"

I had a deal go south once that I just happened to be the second guy to contact him... The first guy absolutely stole probably 10k worth of gear for ~$500.
I offered 6k and would have emptied my pockets... but the seller was adamant that he give the first guy the deal, because he was the first to contact. I guess it's honorable...

I've only been at this a short while but I was on the receiving end of the "first caller" thing on a nice quartet of ESS 1b bookshelfs. It was a nice deal but not a steal. They said they had higher offers but stuck with me and their advertised price.
