J. M. Jarre - Rendez Vous (1986)

That stuff was truly groundbreaking, the way it has been put together is way ahead of it's time, never heard it before though.

It reminds me of some of the tracks on Kraftwerk's first albums Kraftwerk (1970) and Kraftwerk 2 (1972)

Von Himmel Hoch (from sky high) is a masterpiece:

It was indeed groundbreaking stuff. German artists were finding the niche they'd become famous for. I love Kraftwerk's first two (although Hutter and Schneider don't, at least outwardly, seem to share much in that sentiment any longer).

A very exciting time in modern music imo. Deuter's meditations in the 80's and his releases in the 90's are generally considered his better work, but they are all updates of the sound he founded here, as his first instincts.

I tend to appreciate the formative and experimental phases (especially in experimental music) and we've mentioned just a couple of good examples of that here. I'm sure you likely are familiar with Organisation - Tone Float which is interesting as a raw and formative statement of where Hutter and Schneider's ideas first found expression unaided by the synthesizer.

I have heard about this, I guess that since the first two Kraftwerk albums was not made be the full band, and where more of an experiment then anything else, it makes sense for Kraftwerk to distance them selves from it a bit, it's quite different from anything else they have made.

No I was not familiar with that, gotta' check it out.
I don't listen much to this early electronica, but since I barely listen to anything else then electronic music, it's important for me to learn about where it comes from.
Who knows maybe I have heard about Organisation - Tone Float in one of the documentaries I have seen about Krautrock.

If you like experimental music, then the modarchive.org is worth checking out, it's mostly 8-bit music so it's got a particular sound to it.
