Autechre
Amber

1994 Warp
2 lp
U.K. pressing

Autechre's second full-length release, also their most low-key, and, some would even say ambient. IMO they were still several albums away from what would be some of the most important works in recent electronic music, but Amber is a great listen nonetheless.

Autechre
Chiastic Slide

1997 Warp
2 lp
U.K Pressing

Just on the cusp of something extraordinary, Chiastic Slide is a classic Autechre album that is at once approachable, with its steady beats and frequent, dark melodies, but also noisy, mechanical, and deeply atmospheric. Highly recommended to the uninitiated if you want to start with a taste of this duo's more conventional early work, combined with the clattering experimental and artificial alienation which defines their output in the last decade or so.

The cover art features transparent stickers of varying dimensions over the standard cardboard sleeve. This proved almost impossible to photograph, unfortunately, but you can get an idea of it from the second shot. The cross cuts (looks like a + sign in the picture) are all over the clear layer, but you have to hold the lp at a certain angle under the light to see them.

It's like a software jukebox, with a built in exporter, that only plays the included collection.

And do take a look at their 3D demos, it's amazing what you can do with 64kb, in fact you won't believe your eyes.
