Hello everyone,

I have dozens of pairs of speakers. Here's 2 more I'd love to add to the collection.

All input welcome.

I called the guy to see what had been done. Apparently, these are a bitch to find parts for, refoam, etc. He didn't answer, but I left my info.

And....

I have the cash. Just don't have the space.

Parts aren't that hard to find. VMRs and EV tweeters are all over Ebay. The woofer isn't hard to refoam. Worst case, it needs reconed from abuse while foams were bad. They're very nice and desirable, if they're the same as Interface Ds. Could have been a monitor or overseas model.

I worked audio on tour with the pro version of the IVs. They were the worst sounding speakers that myself and the rest of the audio crews had ever heard. No amount of analyzing and adjusting of the 32 channel EQs would get rid of the very recognizable colored sound of the IVs. These IVs did not look like the speakers shown in this thread

Ha. I saw that same pair. I have neither the cash nor the space at the moment, but still I drooled over them.

James, I don't know what those dozens of sets of speakers you have are but dollars to donuts those EVs are better than most of them. And they're very interesting from technical and historical viewpoints.

Guy texted me.....same guy I bought my XRT20's from 2 years ago, lol. May shoot him an offer, if the wife doesn't shoot me.

They are very nice looking speakers, interesting design.

Unless you have speakers such as Altec 19, K-horn or JBL L300, you likely don't have anything in your collection that plays in the same league as these (maybe the XT120, but very different animal). This is a rare and golden opportunity you should exploit to full benefit, IMO. Fairly easy to drive, too...so just about any amp is on the menu.

I wonder if "sub standard cabinet" is some sort of a QC stamp from the manufacturer? Like "B-stock"...but more specific about the nature of the issue.

Yeah, I have thought about these too, and I have bought stuff from him before. They are missing the Equalizer, otherwise I would have been realllllly tempted. In an earlier version of the CL ad I think he said he was using some other active x-over instead of the EV equalizer. I believe they are specifically Interface D's if I remember correctly when I was researching these, and I couldn't find the correct EQ on ebay at the time.

There are several options regarding EV EQ's and lots of info, all are very similar and can be modified and
in certain cases are actually the same. One example is the Sentry III and D's which I believe is the same as the VI.
