Not sure who, ,exactly, you'd have to talk to. If they were mine, I'd be on the phone to the folks at the Analog Room in San Jose. I know that there are some here who have been turned off there but they don't have their own service division _and_ they're pretty knowledgeable about who's ok in the area.

A slight upper mid-range sharpness - I'm not sure if this is caused by the speakers or something else. This appeared when I started using McIntosh electronics, but then a whole bunch more music also appeared when I started using the McIntosh stuff. Also, no one else has reported this problem with the Mac equipment.
In any event, the speakers are twenty years old and I wanted to at least verify that they are working as well as they should and have not deteriorated somehow.
From what I understand, that once the grill cloth is removed, it is hard or impossible to reinstall it. Otherwise, I could probably just remove the covers and inspect everything.
They are probably OK.
I used to service Infinity's full range electrostatics in Atlanta. One thing that caused lower volume/arcing was dust buildup. The electrostatic attracts dust. So I vacuumed them with a low power vacuum. Once the grid arcs to the mylar, it has to be insulated with something like RTV.
IIRC there was a place that would repair electrostatic panels. But I can't find a link for them. Maybe they are not in business anymore.

Acoustat speakers have a lifetime warranty (this may be for the original owner only). My neighbor has his repaired under warranty about five years ago. Yes, shipping is a pain, but, it may be worth it if a panel needs replacement.
I lose the edginess along with a whole lot of resolution and musical content. There's no going back, I'm sticking with the Mc stuff - it is much better.
I am using at different times: C220, MC275 IV, MC2505 (DeWick), C22 (DeWick) and an Audio Research D-115 MK 2.
The issue goes away when I use my older Klyne SK-5A preamp and / or Musical Fidelity SS amp, both of which have far less resolution than the electronics listed above.
No problems with arcing. Also, I think I remember a website, as well, and it does not work any more.
Thought they went out of business years ago. I think a Korean or Chinese company now has the brand name.
