EPI T/E 120 pick up

I am going to pick up the EPI T/E 120 for $50.00. Tell me that I have a good deal...

If the tweeters have blue circles around the inverted dome (which are the correct ones for the T/E series), don't drive the speakers super-hard, because the tweeters can overheat.

I am listening them now. The sound is beautiful.
Is there a way to keep the tweeters cool? Please give me advice> Thank you in advance!

T/E series have regular dome, not inverted.

Best way to upgrade these is to replace the 10uF electrolytic tweeter cap with a good quality film cap of the same value, and insert a cabinet brace between the back panel and the front baffle, just between the woofer and tweeter cutouts.

Also, if you need to refoam the woofers, I have found that placing the foam on the front of the cone works well, and looks a lot neater than trying to work around the crumbling foam on the back of the cones.

The first shows the brace (1" oak dowel, urethane Ultimate Glue) and the new cap hotmelt glued to the back panel (Dayton metallized polypropylene, bypassed with 0.01uF Audiocap Theta). The second shows the woofer refoamed (with the foam on the front of the cone).

Thanks Maxamillion. The one I just bought, the previous owner said he has them refoamed last year at HUMAN speakers. So now I can follow up with the brace of front and back panel, and upgrade the better cap.

Definitely a great deal if they have been refoamed...especially by Human Speaker. :yes:

I love my EPI T/E 100's Series II.
