EQ to Amp Hook up

I noticed in all posted instances the EQ is patched through the tape RCA hook-ups.
I have an amp with separate EQ & Tape RCA jacks; shouldn't I just hook up the EQ inputs/outputs to the Amplifiers EQ inputs/outputs

There is no electrical difference between them. A Tape Loop, Eq Loop and EPL loop are all exactly the same thing. The only real difference is the label.

I suggest using the EQ connections. My NAD Preamp/Tuner has what they call an external processor loop. I assumed at first, Like joe suggests in post #2 that it was just another tape loop, but with the NAD both tape loops produce a very faint signal from an active source when activated, not so with the processor loop, it is dead quiet, like any other source. Even the spec's are different with the EPL. The switch also has a distinctly more solid feel, so they are electrically different.

That's more than likely because the EPL loop is after the input selector switch and tape monitor switches but still before the volume and tone controls. An EPL loop does not normally effect signals going to a tape loop. It would pick up less signal bleed simply by its position in the circuit. A look at a schematic will support this.

Great information...thanks for the link! I wondered exactly how that function was different than the tape monitor loop.

It seems like the NAD is set up pretty much like the Hafler unit. Which makes me think even more that an EQ should be connected to the EPL/EQ input, Like Halfer and NAD intended. Of course if it is being used, by all means, use the tape monitor.
