$400.00 dollars plus $66.00 for shipping, for a broken SX-1980 heatsink (found on Ebay). Maybe I should start making those.

I think this thread belongs in Dollars and Sense. That's outrageous, but remember, asking price and selling price are not the same thing. People ask all sorts of insane prices for all sorts of crap on eBay.

Now if a broken heat sink SELLS for $400, that's news ;)

I see the value in paying top dollar for a complete heat sink, specially for those who are collectors and want to replace a broken one, but 400 for a broken one ? How often does an SX-1980 come up where a heat sink is missing ?

$400.00~~~~~~^%^%%*%%#$##@#@!! Use any language you like to fill in the blanks --That is outrageous.

I know what you are doing, and it will take me a few days to get the information together for you, I DO have other things chewing on my tukus to be done, and this is a whole new item to be jammed in near the top of the queue.

The 1980 heat sink is quite specific in shape, and sure, it would be nice to have a cnc template for milling new ones.

That seller, of whom you speak, I view as the worst of the worst parts vampires out there and I am watching to see him sink under the weight of inventory, ebay listing fees and storage space for the completely disassembled units he has killed in the search of huge markups...
There are a few trying to follow his lead and pricing, but I have seen some that have apparently been sunk already. He gives the parts market a bad stench to me.

back to the heat sink, a little research would give you PLENTY of pictures of sx-1980 heat sinks from the various SX-1980 output transistor replacement projects.

mine (pix) were 1/2 inch wide and 1/8 inch thick iirc
they flexed a bit, so I went thicker iirc

as for the three hold down sizes, I need to dig them up, photograph them, dig up (download if I don't have them already) mechanical drawings for the transistors they originally used to get accurate spacing information and post them for you.

Thanks for the pic. Looks like the one I have (reason I was asking for dimensions) is for a 1080 or 980. Too small, too bad!

MTF, perfect drawing, that’s all I need. I can get the transistor specs myself (from past posts, plus your PM). I’ll start on this one first. Thanks

Ok, all three sizes, as promised:
