Favorite "Under the Radar" movie?

That was a good movie and Bulvi's death scene was worthy of a hero. My beef with the movie is the characters looked nothing like Norse warriors, what with the leather biker gear, the double swords mounted on a guy's back, some late Medieval plate armor and one guy wearing a Roman gladiator helmet (!?!): such nonsense is distracting, to me anyway.

True, true. But I bet there are precious few movies made that an historically minded person such as yourself wouldn't find fault with. Hollywood types aren't usually that keen on such things as historical accuracy.

At least I don't recall a helmet with horns! That would have been egregious.

Rare Exports

It's a Finnish flick, my favorite Christmas movie, and Santa makes an appearance, but he's not the Coca Cola Santa - way not! Finnish with English subtitles - the cast is all male, and those Finns would make good Rednecks! The hero however, is a teddy-bear-wielding small boy.

Here are the short films which kicked it all off:

"Hard Candy" 2005. Watch it with someone you love. Do yourself a favor and do not read reviews or descriptions so as to not ruin the plot line. Psyche thriller sort of stuff.

Good pick! Ellen Page is in several very bizarre movies around the same time

Christina Ritchie - Afterlife

Allegro non Troppo (1976). This is a parody of Disney's Fantasia by Italian animator Bruno Bozzetto. The B&W live-action sequences that start the film and bridge from one animated segment to the next rely a bit too much on slapstick comedy for my taste, but the animated sequences -- each one set to classical music, just as the Disney animators did -- are brilliant and memorable.

"Forbidden Zone" (1980)

A strange, sci-fi/musical/comedy, in which the bizarre-o Hercules family discover a doorway to The Sixth Dimension in their basement. Hilarity ensues. Probably best viewed whilst drunk or stoned....

Fallen down. 1993. Michael Douglas & Robert Duvall. The burger scene is priceless.
Falling Down, good movie, saw it in the threatre when it first came out.

Excellent choice.

IIRC the cashier @ the Whammy burger was player by Michelle Pfeiffer's younger sister.
(read that in the trivia section of IMDB)

My "under the radar" pick, hmmm that's tough.

Maybe Freeway (1996) w/Reese Witherspoon & Keifer Sutherland.

Dark comedy to put it mildly.

Brooke Shields part,just classic.

That -or- maybe Rivers Edge (1986) Crispin Glover,Keanu Reeves & Dennis Hopper, another dark comedy.

Check's in the mail !

I guess I kinda like creepy movies,,,LOL...

"Pink Flamingos" (1972)

Director John Waters` crowning achievement....The Best Of The Worst, and vice-versa. Way out on the edge (and maybe a little beyond), it takes shock comedy to absurd (and obscene) levels. Incredibly bizarre, leading from one mind-boggling scene to the next....just when you think "OK, now I`ve seen it all", it bounces back to let you know that you haven`t. There are so many "WTF ????" moments in this film, you lose track of them....

Not for the squeamish....:nono:
