Firefly and Joss Whedon.... Incredible.

Karu Kutt

Always straining, always.
Anyone out there feel that the series call FireFly, although only one season was one of the best shows ever? I've been re-watching the series and forgot how well done the series was written, acted and CGI'd. The first episode, Serenity, has an incredible version of a Crazy Ivan that I don't think could ever be topped.

Joss Whedon creator of:

Firefly
Serenity, the movie based upon the Firefly series
Buffy
Angle

Is a true genius.

Dr Horrible's Sing-Along Blog thank you very much.

Dr. Horrible: I hear ya. I saw Penny today.
Moist: You talk to her?
Dr. Horrible: So close. Just a few weeks away from a real audible connection.

Whedon is a genius - he can take a truly bizarre premise (Buffy, anyone?) and make it into riveting entertainment.

Firefly is pretty much in a class by itself, very few TV shows can match it. The story I've heard is that the FOX exec responsible for the episodes being aired out of order and the constant preemptions was eventually fired over it.

I love the language they use and the characters are so out there and at the same time so endearing.

"I aim to mis-behave."

"Let's be bad guys."

I became a huge fan after someone posted something on it here. It's story telling at its best.

I got hooked on it instantly. It had the ability to make you care about the characters. BTW, you can see all the episodes for free on hulu.com

I discovered the show a couple of years after it was canceled. Brilliant! Bought the DVDs.

Shiny!

During its abortive run on Fox I managed to catch exactly one show. This was pre-DVR for me so I never saw another but was certainly intrigued. 'Serenity' came and I saw it in the theater. Intrigue went to into full-blown "WTF?". Got the box set for Christmas and by episode 3 my ebullience started to turn into nagging depression knowing that this was it, there would be no more. I slowed down in watching them and managed to drag it out to nearly a month.

That was 3 years ago and I've not watched them since. Have nearly forgotten them all & don't read the episode discussions on other forums. I want to enjoy them again and be surprised once more. I'll go out on a limb and state the "Firefly" was quite possibly the best sci-fi series in decades. It is an absolute shame that it was dealt with the way it was. Maybe another film someday covering the time between 'Firefly' & 'Serenity' specifically to include one character. Now that would be cool. Taking off the browncoat now.

Yeah... I was bummed out when I found out it only ran one season. I'm kinda hoping for another miracle.

Awesome show, hard to top in many regards. Who thought a Space western would be so good?.

By the way, there are other under-rated sci-fi shows, like Babylon 5, which had excellent storytelling...I still perfer firefly though;).

My girlfriend and I are watching the series at the moment, for the 3rd time, we watch it once a year.
Genius concept, the whole space bandit/western vibe, you know like they are running around with 6 shooters and horses, and then a Spaceship appears out of nowhere, and with the humor it makes for some very interesting and wacky episodes.
Very disappointing it was canceled, its like they never gave it a chance, the complexity of the show doesnt grab everyone immediately which is where I think they went wrong for one thing.......
Who knows maybe it will make a comeback, with a bit of luck...................

I have to admit that I struggled through Babylon 5, but maybe I'll give it another shot. I purchased all the seasons because a friend said the same thing you did 33&athird but I didn't think the acting was anything great and that turned me off right away.
