Firefly and Joss Whedon.... Incredible.

Our tolerance seems to vary.
It does seem odd that there are people that physically harmed others that still have their works widely accepted, meanwhile those that were sometimes mean will likely never work again and people try to downplay the part they had in their work.

While I do feel people shouldn't be unpleasant to their employees, most people have worked for a boss that was a jerk to them at some point. I'm certain I was demanding enough of people in the past that if I was a celebrity it probably wouldn't look good.
From the article linked above, some of the people complaining about Joss seemed to lash out in more subtle ways at him as well, and had their feelings hurt when he didn't think their input was as important as they thought it should be.

The one thing that Hollywood seems not to be learning from these is that it isn't as much about the individual people but the structure of their business as a whole where when people are successful enough at making money for the studios, nobody questions the environment that they create, simply because they don't want to mess with the golden goose.
In most of these situations, plenty of people, with the power to correct behavior like this along the way, ignored it because there was money to be made.

Turning this thread in a different direction, what are your thoughts to Nathan Fillion trying to put together an animated revival of Firefly?

He posted online that he had all the permissions he needs, the animation studio lined up, showrunners on board (whatever they are, I never did understand what they did) and that all they needed was a "Home". I assumed that meant a broadcast/streaming platform to foot the bills and distribute the content.

I am a fan of the show, but I'm rather doubtful that the chemistry between the crew could be recreated in animation, and could the show possibly be the adult focused show in animation that it was in live action?

I'm not thrilled about an animated version, nor am I a fan of resurrecting great shows in general. I'm just not in the mood to experience the let down if it flopped.

Speaking of, Hulu just recently rejected a pilot (that it ordered) of the Buffy series. Sarah Michelle Gellar was backing it, which was surprising. She was pretty burnt out by the time they finished the original series.

I'm currently doing a re-watch with friends, which is something I've wanted to do for years. We're up to mid-Season 7 and it's been fun enough to commit to doing Angel next.

In more Buffy news..

This might be old news, but in case some haven't heard, Michelle Trachtenberg (Dawn) died a little over a year ago (February 2025), and Nicholas Brendon (Xander) died last month (March), both of natural causes.
