Firefly and Joss Whedon.... Incredible.

It aired during Halloween last year. The premise was that Castle was putting on his "space cowboy" costume for a Halloween party and his daughter said "Didn't you wear that costume, like, 5 years ago?"....as in when Firefly was still on :D

Let's go to the video....

Soundboy, thanks for the youtube link, that was great.

Oh and Handy, I fast forward to that episode... I had forgotten how good it was. Thanks

Considering he is a descendant of Civil War (Confederate) General Jubal Early,
And Firefly / Serenity was inspired by the aftermath of the Civil War.
I think you're right.

Interesting, I did not know that. Thanks.

A friend of mine was really into Firefly and knew I was a sci-fi fan.

He kept trying to get me to watch Firefly - but I get stubborn when anyone tells me I 'should' watch or read or eat anything that is hip or trendy.

Well, one weekend my wife took the kids to see her parents and my friend loaned me the complete DVD set.

I started Friday evening and then watched every episode in a non-stop marathon.

Great atmosphere, scripting, dialog, and loved the acting.

Shame on Fox for cancelling the series...dumbos.....

I even got my kids hooked on it - bought the bluray discs last xmas and they watched every episode non-stop. They even downloaded the theme song to their i-pods.

Big B5 fan myself - much more 'epic' in scope than FF. JMS really pulled off a great series, imo. Some of the story elements and dialog put a tingle and chill in my bones - some of the best sci-fi ever to air.

Firefly

After watching the first season, my wife took up Mandarin just so she could swear like the Firefly cast.....

Swearing

Sorry, no sister …. Only brothers; I, happily got the only one in existence AFAIKT.

Wife is an intellectual property attorney for the audio industry with extensive dealings in China. Swearing in Chinese (talk about vile and denigrating) for her is a win / win / win.

It either amuses, totally throws people off track, or goes “not understood”. In any regard, as yet, no one has been too offended…. And wife is thrilled with her new, useful “ language skill-set”

The series Firefly is/was excellent, and Nathan Fillion was perfectly cast as the Captain. Were it not for Torchwood, this series would likely stand as my favorite science fiction television serial.

For those who haven't had the pleasure of experiencing Firefly, Ovation is running it this week only, three hours per night, in the proper order. "Serenity" and "The Train Job" were on tonight. Interestingly enough, "The Train Job" retained the intro grafted onto the front end to explain the premise after a moronic FOX executive decided not to air "Serenity" to start the series. I hadn't seen that since the original airing in 2002.

There is also an amazing looking show on HBO with 12 episodes for season 1 and cancelled before a season 2 could happen.

The Nevers is an American science fiction drama television series created by Joss Whedon for HBO. The series is produced by HBO and Mutant Enemy Productions, with executive producers including Whedon, Philippa Goslett, Doug Petrie, Jane Espenson, Ilene S. Landress, and Bernadette Caulfield. The series premiered on April 11, 2021. The first season consists of 12 episodes, split into two six-episode parts. In December 2022, the series was canceled before the back six could air and pulled from the HBO Max library on December 18, 2022. All 12 episodes began streaming on Tubi on February 13, 2023.

The series is set in Victorian London and follows a group of people, mostly women, known as the Touched, who suddenly manifest abnormal abilities. Among them are Amalia True, a mysterious and quick-fisted widow, and her best friend Penance Adair, a brilliant inventor.

very interconnected group of characters - looked like great potential like Buffy & Firefly.

But the show got pulled when some of the horrific tales got out about Joss Whedon being toxic to women he worked with ...
