Kent, every piece of McIntosh and Carver gear I have purchased has required repair work. Granted, if I purchased Mac gear from AudioClassics in A1 condition, what you stated would be true, but the cheaply priced gear ALL needs work, across the board.
After good repairs are accomplished, it is a race for electrical components to fail, and the higher priced McIntosh components don't have any leg up in magical smoke. The advantage they do have is an active, reliable and long term source of parts in their parent company. Carver is not to that level for anther thirty years.:scratch2:
