Fish called wanda

Reruns may be cheap and on TBS, but I know both those shows ran during the Fox Sunday night family hour ... after the Simpsons, of course.

I tried watching both shows and thought they were both mostly tasteless. I was amazed that a former family channel like TBS was showing them. Never have liked crude or distasteful humor. I'm not a prude by any means, but I don't like my intelligence insulted.
"Family Guy" and "American Dad" - I saw one or 2 bits of them, but never felt an urge to watch either. South Park was better done and actually funny in places.

Still - none of that compares to A Fish Called Wanda. (free on Amazon Prime!)
Its FUNNY - think it's time to rewatch that myself! (1988? 33 years ago?Wow - they are all OLD now)

You’re right about them being on Fox originally, though TBS has had their own raunchfest with shows like 2 Broke Girls.

Never watched South Park, but I did like what little I’ve seen.

Kevin Klein won "Best Supporting Actor" Oscar for his role. He was b b b b b brilliant. It also was nominated for "Best Director" and "Best Original Screenplay". I recently found the Blu Ray at a thrift.

"Funny" is not necessarily the point when discussing whether or not something that pokes fun at conservatively "off limits" subjects could be "made today".

My point is; "Family Guy" and "American Dad" FTM clearly target the same reactions that "Blazing Saddles" did and that genre of humor is, in fact alive and well.

...and on mainstream broadcast television no less.

This is true. However, I cannot think of many other shows willing to write such provocative stuff as these two.
Let's be honest - the noose is tightening on free speech.

While I've enjoyed some episodes of Family Guy, I wholeheartedly agree with this post, and the final sentence is gold. Right on.

I agree a lot of the material is not my cup of tea and IMO "too much", but I find both shows MUCH more funny than "The Office".

"Uncomfortable" for the sake of being uncomfortable is not funny to me. AT ALL.

...and there's another fairly recent popular show chock full of ethnic related "humor".

Bolded line is a slam dunk. Feel exactly the same.

Whitney Cummings, the writer for that turd of a show, is one of those misguided female comics who equate being vulgar with being groundbreaking and going toe to toe with the "boys".

Total crap, that one. Misses the entire point.

Yep, my intro to South Park has been an episode here and there -
Wasn't "2 Broke Girls" a CBS show originally? yep, wikip says:
an American television sitcom that aired on CBS from September 19, 2011, to April 17, 2017

And yep, I saw preview ads and such during other CBS shows, but never had an urge to watch that show either ...
frankly, very very few sitcoms pull me in - can't even think of 1
... well, after MASH and shows of that era.
FWIW, I wasn't a Seinfeld or Friends watcher either ...

Think we'll rewatch "Wanda" after dinner tonight - I can look forward to that!

I do have to say I did enjoy the Family Guy parodies of the Star Wars movies and do own them on dvd.

For some reason I don’t own Wanda on video, but do need to rewatch it. I LOVE British humor. It can be disgusting and subtle at the same time. Except Benny Hill.
