Fisher 202 Futura or Technics SA-202?

I found both of this Stereos for a fairly good price around my area and I don’t know which one to go with. Has anyone have experience with any and can share some wisdom? Thanks

They are stereo receivers not amps

What is it that you don't know which one to go with? they are both similar in WPC.

I would suggest going over the specs below and see if either and or both will be compatible with your current speakers.

I’m looking for a Stereo from the 70s for a more warmer sound and stray away from my Onkyo TX-822. Was just for some wisdom and experience from either model and in terms of reliability.

They are stereo receivers not amps

The ten years between 1970 and 1980 had great advances in receivers, yet you mostly stay away from 'digital is better' mindsets.

Personally, I'd go for the Technics, based on reliability and quieter circuits, and 10-year-newer capacitors.

Having had both, Futura all day.

That being said, I think the Fisher is still my pick.

Got the Pioneer S-H152B-K speakers looking to change to the Andrew Jones SP-BS22-LR!

Any idea of the operating/physical condition of the receivers? Are they all original with no updated parts?

Fisher was cleaned, and Pots and switches were sprayed and doesn’t have any physical damage.

The SA-202 is also in good condition and functions although might need to be cleaned with Deoxit. Nothing bad noted either.

I've had a bunch of SA202's, from memory the base is particle board. I also recall them having STK type outputs not discrete, though at this price point I doubt it matters. I'd go for the Fisher.

Correct, STK outputs and budget build.
My Futura 201 was a fun rebuild.

The reason i asked about the speakers was to see if they would amenable to the lowerish power of both the receivers you mentioned. They look like they should be fine.

Ended up finding a Sony STR 7055 for $60! Thank you guys for your wisdom!

If the speakers start distorting if I get a little louder would that be something with the wire?

Are you using bare wire connection to speakers and/or receiver? Make sure that the connections are clean and you don't have a stray strand of wire touching wire/binding post of opposite polarity. Also make sure that your wiring is in phase (the same for left and right channels). I always wire red to positive and black to negative.
