I know now that, since you've chosen #2, if I ever come across a #60 amp, you'll be the first to know.

Truth of the matter is that I started my love of tube gear with a Stromberg Carlson console of comparable vintage and craftsmanship. I got it when I was 10 with paper route money.
I saw one for sale locally a few years ago while i was still paying child support and wish I'd had the scratch . . . even though it's not a Fisher.

I've added the pictures from that craigslist ad. . . not to threadjack, but because I want to point out why I can understand your excitement.
I so wish I hadn't chopped it up to get that Admiral with my paper route money when I was 13 (hey, it was 1970!)
I can still hear how that turntable clacked on startup and auto-return.

Here is a scan of a factory photo of the Custom Sixty Series chassis - tuner, amplifier, and power supply which seems to match your equipment. The photo is marked "Model S-60 Chassis."

Also, here is the link for a 8 page brochure on the Custom Sixty Series console. It says the expander is an option. I hope you find it interesting.

That's a Jensen 610 Tri-Ax speaker and crossover. worth Big, Big bux $$$. Be careful not to blow it up or damage it.

It looks as if an Altec 604 was an additional cost upgrade. With the prices G610s are bringing, and the difficulty of repairing the HF diaphragm if it blows, I'd be sorely tempted to sell the Jensen speaker and crossover, and replace it with a 604. The swap would have the added benefit of most likely financing the complete restoration of the console...

Edit - scratch that, upon further review it looks like the upgrade driver was a Stephens Tru-Sonic 206-AXA. Something even more expensive and harder to repair than the G610. I'd still be tempted to install an Altec 604 - great sound and parts are still available.

That photo doesn't do justice to the amp and power supply. The transformers are massive, the OPT on the amp dwarfs the PT on my 800C. Looking at all the chassis, I can tell that they are going to be beautiful one day, despite the 60 years of dust.

I did suggest to Joel that an Altec 604 would be nice in that cabinet, if the value of that Jensen driver is a bit intimidating. But I still think it's for listening to. What good is it if it's silent?

I must say that I was pretty excited to have even a small part in this deal. Happy to see a local friend come away with a Fisher treasure.

Jailtime told me the whole story, lol I want to hear this when you get it up and running. I remember these consoles back in the 60s when I was a kid, my brother and sister each had one. I remember them sounding pretty nice.

A pair of G610s with crossovers recently sold for $11,100 on eBay.

I'd sell that speaker and use the $$$ to finance the restoration.
Unless someone experienced chimes in that it's THAT good.
