I'm sure that a lot of people who own older Carver gear will be more than thrilled about this news.

My brother has a TFM-55 that he would like to have restored. He was ecstatic when he saw the post.

That's a pretty reasonable rate, too. If that is the Rita I'm thinking of she worked for Bob at Carver and also worked at Sunfire too as I recall.

Will be sending all my Amps after the holidays. BC oversees the work himself. Had a nice talk with the right hand man. Said the amps will be inspected, Bench test with a spec sheet included, And cleaned as new. My amps have no issues, But a tune up can't hurt.

The PhaseTek guys out in Washington work quite cheaply from what I've seen, although I don't know how long their backlog is now. They've been doing Phase Linear gear continuously for a long time. I'd link to the website but it dissapeared when AOL killed member-hosted sites.

Carver's shop is not too far from where I live. If any of you who send your gear in for a tune up would like me to pick it up and put it through its paces for a a couple of weeks before sending it on to you, just let me know...

Very good news! Carver's shop has been mapped and is probably going to be a regular stop for restoration work.

It will be interesting to learn what restoration parts and labor involves to a typical job as people get the gear worked on.

I thought I'd add something that I feel should be mentioned. There are also a few people that have been around for a long time that are also very qualified to work on Carver gear as they have been doing it during and since the time that Carver was in business.

Rolland at Hi-Tech Audio Ltd.

and a gentleman known as anatech (Chris) over on the diyaudio.com, who is in Canada.

Both are very highly thought of, and deserve some recognition. If I'm in need I'd be inclined to send gear to them as I would hate to see their businesses falter due to a lack of activity.

I had just emailed Bob at the first of the month about just that. Wondering about checking out an amp or two of mine and he mentioned that he had given Rita some space in the old building. Way cool. Rita has been with Bob since back in the Phase Linear days up to Sunfire so I put my faith in them. It all depends on the distance you have to ship them from and the cost.

It would definitely be bad to see Rolland's business suffer. He restored my brother's M1.5T. My brother is very happy with the work done. He has been around for a while and knows what he's doing when it comes to Carver equipment.

I'm not really sure that Rolland would be hurt by this as he is one of the very few, 2 or 3?, that use original Carver parts and know Carver gear as well as he does.

Intersting- I just saw a pari of highly Carver modified Citation Amp's along with a preamp, go for around $5000 on Ebay.
Interesting for us H/K lovers how he really appreciates some of their designs.

My Carvers are all fine. Do you have personal experience with their failure or is it just here say? I've been in the electronics industry for 30 years and have seen plenty of well known companies that have had crap in their lineup.
