Found a Bryston 4B SST at a salvage store

Wishful thinking, anyway.
Hey, I'm not suggesting they'd fix the feet and connectors, but the warranty should still be valid for this amp (not that they break often). I know I've never found anything still under warranty at the junk store! :D

you found WHAT?!

ok...

:worthless

Congrats!! wonderful amp you got there!

Keep them spinning,
Bert.

Like I say, maybe.

However, on our products, if a unit is totaled/salvaged the warranty is automatically void.

This is on machinery mind you, not audio equipment, so maybe different business practices apply.

A beast! What a find.

Everything I've heard, Bryston goes over and above. Even if I didn't have the green I'd call them and ask about the amp, possible issues, etc, you never know what they'll say and or offer. Worth a call.

Pete

Never hurts to ask, I guess.

My new-to-me amp is due to arrive tomorrow. One of the first things I'll be doing is calling Audio Research to see if there are any service bulletins or updates that should be done to the amp.

I have seen Bryston service 15 year old, second or third owner components for free. I bet they would at least service this at discount. They are a really fine company regarding customer care. One of the very best at that lost art.

It certainly would be nice if they took care of davidb. Perhaps my underlying point is that if they do, it should be considered a bonus, not an expectation or obligation.

The fact that this thing was dragged behind a truck, or what ever, isn't their fault as might be a component or mfg. defect.

My apologies about harping on this warranty stuff as some of you may have noticed in other posts too, but when you've worked as a Warranty Analyst or Warranty Administrator for many years, it sort of becomes ingrained. Especially after you see what people try to pass off as warranty issues.

Bryston has replaced caps and many other non-circuit components and returned amps in like new condition to many folks who have written about their experiences. I would expect that the replacement of some $5 speaker connectors and an $4 foot or two is going to generate more good will than charging $150 to have the amp repaired from being dragged behind a truck, or whatever it suffered.

Since their 20-year warranty is taken seriously by Bryston, it is worth your time to evaluate the opportunity to make this amp like new.

We too have considered upping our warranty cost that is built into the product price and more or less stating we have a "no questions asked" policy (with exceptions in only the most glaringly obvious cases). The proposal wasn't approved.

It was marked $229 but got it for half off. Contacted the factory and said I'd have to send it in. They wouldn't sell me the parts. Warranty is only valid with original packing and sales slip.

I'm a member of a forum where Bryston is very popular and the reason (besides the great sound) is because they love their products enough to bring them back to spec and beyond at a reasonable cost not no matter the reason they are in their present state. Any research on Bryston as a company shows a company that cares deeply about their products and those folks who call a Bryston their own...whether they bought it used or new. A fantastic company.

Could be but that's not what I felt from the guy I talked to. He offered nothing other than ship it to us and we'll give you an estimate. But it does sound great.

I have a 4B ST, and it is a very nice amplifier. Good score!:thmbsp:
Now, how 'bout some pics.

I keep seeing reasonable. What would you consider reasonable in this case?

Normal cost of parts and labor, or some kind of deal on it?
