Looks a lot like that, and could very well be. Yellow background seems about the same shade, but the image quality and lighting are seemingly much better*:scratch2:. Could very well be a out-take of a session.
didn't someone around here have that as an avatar for a while?
*note: I do know that they could get great image quality, not saying it has to do with the time period, but compared to "We're only in it for the money", it looks sharper.

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery....to me it is more a poke of fun at society than a slight to the Beatles. It is more like a parallel universe Sgt Pepper than an a repudiation of that album. If I am making any sense at all...

Yeah, saw it. It filled in a lot of gaps in my knowledge of the progression of Zappa's career into the 70s. This video does stop its documentation as the original Mothers band was broken up, though. Seems like the band members could also claim, "what a long, strange trip its been....".

The odd thing about the 60's Mothers is you really don't get a feeling of what they were all about until you start listening to live recordings from the era. Many of their concerts, especially in Europe, he really emphasized their jazz and avant garde leanings as early as 1967. I have no doubts that Zappa as well as Miles Davis were responsible for the swarm of really high quality fusion bands in Europe and Great Britain around 1968 and 1969.
The thing from that documentary that always amazes me is how he employed his musicians. From what I understand he paid them a salary whether they played that month or not. It also shocks me that his former band mates were not more grateful to him for that. I'd imagine that would put a drain on the bank account rather quickly.
