Gear rack/stands

Ha- yes, Slippers-on, it's plywood flooring. My house is a converted industrial space (had been an auto repair shop for many years) which has uneven concrete floors, so a plywood floor was installed over it. In the rest of the house the plywood was painted, but in this one room we polyurethaned it.

And Boza, yes, that's the Vivid v1.5. Unless I moved up the Vivid line, I don't think I would even consider other speakers.

Wallmounted rack. Did it firstly for turntable, wallmounted everything later, because it looks good.

Wallmounted rack is really good for turntables.

Recent TT addition necessitated a new rack. Picked up a basket case SOTA and put it back together. Darned thing is 20-1/4" wide and my old rack is only 20" wide between the A-frames.

Here's the old set up. Rack was $40 on CL.

Found a Lovan 4-tier rack on Craigslist for a C-note this morning.

And while I'm at it here's the living room set-up. The rolling cabinet was $20 on CL.

I like Craigslist!

So many great racks in this thread.

Can the Flexi-rack builders chime in on how sturdy and stable the racks are? Seems like most are using 1/2" to 5/8" rods. How do you think it would compare in stability with the VTI and Salamander Synergy racks? (Links below)

VTI

The Salamander Synergy racks are not directly comparable to the Flexy. The Salamander Archetype racks are.

The Salamander spikes fit quit well on my dual Flexy with 5/8" all thread rods. The only real difference between a Flexy and Salamander Archetype is the number of rods. You could easily build a Flexy with four rods.

Thanks for the feedback.

I found local guy on CL selling a VTI Rack for cheap. Saves me the hassle of trying to build a flexy and paying exorbitant amount for something from Salamander design.

Built this a couple weeks ago as the small components looked out of place on my old rack.

Here's a pic of the old rack which I built ten years ago or so. I liked the rustic look of the slate when I built it. Got a bit tired of it over the years but man was it ever solid.

Still figuring out what to do with the old slate pieces.

The first 2 pictures are a custom rack that my brother-in-law built. It's modeled on a Finite Elemente rack (third picture). All shelves are reinforced with carbon fiber, and have ball and cup isolation.

Dang! Is that steel or aluminum on the sides?

This one here is state of the art!

Spent many an hour when I was very small, in front of this scratching my parents' records.

Ok,I'll give it a shot.

First one,my budget rack that houses my "vintage" system,I believe it is an older Sanus as it matches the Sanus TV stand I bought new years ago except the shelves on this rack are cherry vs. the TV stand shelves which are black, but the basic design is very similar.

Bought this rack @ a bulk garage sale buyer's liquidation,I paid < $5.00 for it.

It just landed in that spot as a temporary home,so yeah it's not hooked up right now, thing is I've been buying a lot of stereo stuff lately,so everything is getting shuffled around at the moment, and I'm not the only one here,so what goes where becomes a matter of mutual agreement for the most part.

And here vvvv is the Sanus TV rack which does double duty as my BR stereo rack.

And here vvvv is my "big" project,it is a OmniMount RE27 (27ru) rack enclosure, chock full of gear, got a real good deal on this rack enclosure, and I always wanted a "pro" rack set-up,so to me it was a "no-brainer" when the cards all fell into place for me.

Still got a few odds & ends to finish up this ^^^^ one,ran outta rack screws, and I gotta pull it out to put the amp fans in it,and buy & install the interconnects and what-not.

Finding a place to set this one up is sure to be a hot-button topic !!!
Honestly though,I'm building it for when I eventually move outta here.

I also got a 2 post 18ru rack set-up in the basement,I'll post some pics of that one tomorrow (too late and I dont wanna go down there to take a pic right now),it's not up & running just yet,but it'll only take like 30 mins. or so to get it all fired up,but everything down there is in flux right now,and I just set-up a new test bench and such,so I've been cleaning up some of the mess (all my older sister's hoarder crap) and moving stuff around down there.

I put this 2 post rack set-up together mostly with odds & ends leftover from the bigger rack enclosure project.

I'm a sucker for rack gear.
