Gear rack/stands

What do you have supporting them in the back? Looks like they're sagging?

I can't see any sag, and I was just thinking that it was a nice touch to leave the back unsupported if you know you're just putting a few pounds on each shelf.

Have you had any stability/sag issues?

Here's one I use -- Ikea Trysil nightstand. While certainly not as nice as others' solutions, it's compact (i.e. spouse-friendly) and fits my low-powered gear fairly well. By the way, it's hard to tell from the photo, but there's about 1/2" of space between the turntable and the Marantz, so the receiver seems to get enough air. The Marantz was recently completely rebuilt and runs very cool anyway.

anybody tried those new Pangea racks from Audio Advisor? They look decent for the price...i'm looking for something larger than my Target Audio Products 4-shelf steel rack, and it's pretty slim pickins out there for a decent quality steel rack...

My new rack is nearly done. Just needs a couple coats of poly.

I used scrap pieces of 3/4'' plywood to make this spare equipment rack after work this week. The plywood was headed for the dumpster and the hardware was all extras that I had. The plywood all had bows in it which I had turned up but I see the rtr's are now bowing it the opposite way. Best thing is I learned a new trick for the part I hated most about putting these things together. A 3/4''x 6' length of pvc pipe fits a 3/8 nut perfectly. I was able to run all those nuts down the entire length of the threaded rod in seconds with a battery operated drill. It isn't pretty but it's fine for some of the extra gear that seems to constantly follow me home.

Some really nice displays on this thread.

Another flexi.
1" threaded rod; it's bigger than I need, I know, but the rack is rock solid. Plus I like the appearance. May want to re-do it sometime with Acme rod, like Zork used, because I think that looks even nicer. Shelves are .75" birch ply.

Im sorry, not wanting to be crass or insensitive but why do people insist on putting men feet, which are very unattractive in the first place, in picture shots? That's really gross and adds nothing to audio in any fashion! And now, here you are trying to be creative with sticking a album cover between your toes? Please, spare us....that makes me want to throw up!
