Getting into the speaker to re-cap

I was wondering how you re-cap a speaker if the rear of it is sealed. Do you take off the woofer to gain access?

Yes......remove the woofer.....sometimes the tweeter too.
Be sure to reseal both properly when reassembling to prevent air leaks.

alternately, depending on spkr, if it's there, you can remove the xover assy. from the back and work on it directly. but if all you have is + and - terminals on the back you can't do it.

No particular speakers. I just learned about re-capping and was curious. Buy the way, how do you re-seal the speakers? Caulk?
