If I had the money, I would be on a plane there right now. Some of that stuff is so $$$$ it's unreal. The Dyna Stereo 70...not so much.
I was actually thinking the same thing. Just load up a tractor-trailer and drive it down there.

I take it to mean "I don't want to deal with a whole bunch of cheapskates who will try to haggle me to death", <and> "nor do I want people to skim off the best stuff and stick me with a bunch of hard-to-sell unwanted dregs still cluttering up my garage". Reasonable sentiments for someone who just wants to clear out everything for a lump-sum price to a single buyer.
I'm not sure about that price, though. Maybe if you add up the retail prices of each of the items, it's still a bargain (?), but there is a lot of stuff there that probably isn't worth all that much, along with some treasures. Anyone picking through who only wanted to keep the good stuff, would probably find it difficult and time-consuming to get their money back, so it is unlikely anyone will pay that price, UNLESS there is some really costly treasure in there that makes the deal worthwhile. Actually, there might be; I see some stuff I know is good and not cheap, but I'm not sure of the values/prices.
It might be fun (and perhaps even practical) to do as ScramMan2 suggested, and truck it all to the Fest. Maybe pick out a few favorite keepers first, and unload the rest there. Maybe hold an auction, and donate a percentage of the proceeds to AK? It would be one way to get some good stuff, get some cash back quickly, have some fun and spread some nice tube gear around the AK community (good 'Karma'
), thus relieving yourself of the excess (which at some point becomes "clutter", even if it is nice) all at the same time.It'll be interesting to see how long this garage pile lasts, and what price it sells for in the end (if we can find out).
The big question is... is the seller an AKer? Anyone we know from around here? That garage looks a lot like the way I picture some AKers' garages! Come on, fess up, please!
If not, someone should invite the guy to drop in here; he'd fit right in!

I think they are late Simplex in the same family as the earlier AM-1026 amps but not 100% sure. They don't look like anything I've seen. What is odd is the use of 807's with 9P front-end tubes.I can't think of any commercial amp that used that combo. Mostly by the time 9P's were in regular usage the 807 was not. They are odd ducks. Might be able to narrow it down if the Peerless P/N could be seen on the output transformer.
The others you can see are IPC (Simplex later) AM-1001. They were sort of the bread & butter postwar drive-in amp if you weren't doing Altec or Century. I had a set 20 years back and they command reasonable dough. The output transformer is junk however. It is a Peerless OEM and it shows they built to whatever standard the client required. To be usable in an audio fashion the entire amplifier needs to be rebuilt with a different front-end. I recall someone who rebuilt them as WE-124's and said they sounded OK. Maybe...... I see a lot of theater support gear such as lighting & projector controls with a scattering of audio gear. I'd be more interested in what can't be seen clearly. It looks to me like this is the morgue of someone who serviced projection booths. I am very curious what is in the (2) amp enclosures, (1) visible in the center with the orange/red logo plate. Could be Century or more likely CEC (Cinema Electric Corp.) transmitter tube amps. Every piece of their gear I've had has had an orange/red logo tag. Also to the left you can see the side of a what might be a black crinkle painted free-standing relay rack. If it is indeed a relay rack it could be an Amer-Trans, RCA, or Mirrophonic (Western Electric) stack of gear. Any of those is extremely rare now. If a Mirrophonic, $25K might not be entirely out of the ballpark for all as the amp would likely be a WE-46 variant. Yowser!

I have a choice to make - a garage full of stuff or a new car??? The garage would definately be more fun, but $25k is a lot of bills. Not many people have that kind of excess dough, and even fewer that have that kind of money to float for a hobby and a guess.
Maybe an antique vintage dealer would look and offer. My guess, he is going to have to part it out or drop his price way down - mabe $5k tops, $2500 and it would be gone.

I almost feel like someone got this cheap and is trying to sell like this rather than resell piece by piece. I'm fairly certain you could make $25,000 from the garage's contents. However, it would take an incredible amount of effort, and you'd most likely have to go through Ebay, which means fees galore.

First off, I think it's two pictures of one amp. It's an Ampex 6516 theater amp, 30W pp 807 and meant to be rack mounted.

If he's going to stick to his guns, he MUST provide an inventory of every single piece that is on offer PLUS pictures of same.
Even someone who has $25k wouldn't spend it without such documentation.
If he's not going to go that route, then he needs to part it all out. If the gear is truly any good, he would still make his $25,000. If not, well then he was a dreamer and a scammer from the getgo.
