Grado Gold Upgrade Path

I have a bunch of jazz records going back to the 50s and 60s as well as newer audiophile reissues of old jazz albums, and even newly recorded jazz albums on vinyl. Most jazz on vinyl is cut pretty tame and you won't hear IGD on jazz albums, especially instrumental jazz with no vocals, even with a cheap conical cartridge.

Well, then I guess my listening habits are a bonus then since I listen to the same music as you mentioned.

If you have any inner groove distortions check to see if your table is level. Also check cartridge alignment and anti skate setting. I have never had any tracking issues with Grados. I have been using them since 1977. My father and Joe Grado were very good friends. My dad had listening sessions at his home with Mr. Grado and Saul Marantz almost every Sunday.

looks like they went back to the original size of the 8mz. but my original from 88 had a hyperbolic stone instead of a bi-radial. it got trashed by a couple of teen-aged boys imagining they were disk jockeys, and the replacement i got was a nude bi-radial

I don't seem to have any IGD with any of my Grados. My table is absolutely level as well. Someone remarked in another forum that the reason that I didn't have IGD was because I listen mainly to jazz and that jazz recordings were not as demanding as other forms of music.

Just got a text from John Grado. He said the pipelines are started being filled with series 3's but they have not officially announced. The Lineage series was announced today

They all share the body of the Epoch. John just texted me. He said the 3 series will outperform the 2 series across the board hands down...also less susceptible to hum.
