I love mine too. I have the 325's (the discontinued model) and some RS-2's. Each has their own distinctive sound.

The only drawback to Grado's are that you have to replace the ear pads about every 3 years. The pads start to crumble and you will get black dandruff all over your ears and shirt.

There is an off-shoot to the Grado Line marketed by Alesandro. I have a pair of MS-1's and they are fine. Good phones are a must to get what's going on with your system. I can't do critical listening or try to diagnose a problem without them.

Speakers that sound as good as a pair of mid grade phones (cans - although open designs should not be called cans?) cost many, many times the lay-out for the headphones. Drop over to Head-Fi's web site for more info :)

They seem to sound even better as time goes by. It is said they have a break-in period perhaps that is so.

Bought myself a pair of Sennheiser HD-600's for Christmas. I've heard really good things about the SR80's, and Grado has LONG been a respected name for those who love their cans. There is nothing like a good set of headphones, regardless of the manufacturer :).

I've heard numbers as high as 200 hours before they reach their break-in..... you have alot of listening to do

I just leave my Grado SR80's hooked up to the headphone jack on the receiver while listening to the speakers. They don't have to be on your head to break them in you know.
BTW, they don't fit the average cat very well (without reinforcements).
Happy Holidays,

I have the SR-60's, SR-325's and RS-1's. In my opinion, there isn't a better pair of starter cans for the money than the SR-60's and when you couple a pair of RS-1's with a Grada RA-1 amp, it's magic!:music:

I have a pair of SR-60's and they are great :) Nothing like a good set of cans for sure.

I also have the 60s. They best the crap out of all the cans I had in the 70s. Now I just need to build a tube headphone amp. Cheers.

. . . why don't you build me one while you are at it. Shouldn't take you that much longer doing them at the same time!!!

Hey Boon, why don't we do it together. Let's find a good design and go for it. I like the pete mullet starving student amp. Here is the link to his webpage for that amp. It is a hybread and very easy to build. There is a gallary on that page that shows different builds. Cheers.

Nice headphones. I have a pair of SR-80's that I bought from a fellow AK'er. I prefer an over the ear type, so my son ended up with these. I have two pair of Sennheiser HD280 Pros. I just bought a pair of SR-60's for my wife for Christmas. She likes to roller blade with her Ipod, but doesn't like earbuds. These should be a major improvement.

Just got some 60s for Xmas. They sound pretty good out of the box - I'm anxious to let them break in and see that comes out.

Yup. My younger brother got them on sale fore $20 off and him and my sister are astounded how good their garbage music sounds. I've been telling them that good audio gear makes the music sound awesome this whole time!! Senn HD-590s are my nightlies here ;)

Glad you like 'em and welcome to the club. You come to notice the name STAX now and then ;)
