Guess what I'm going to do with this!

I think a TD150 would fit nicely.

With my wish to keep the drawer and to get this ready for company coming over tomorrow, I'm shortcutting the build.

I cleaned it up a bit and got rid of most of the felt, excess wood and cardboard. Then I cut the 1/2" plywood you see to fit, added the wide cutout for wires and dropped it in.

I cut the drawer underneath and tacked it back together about 2" shorter so the wires can drop straight down.

I tested it with an average turntable with the lid on and there was not enough head room. My Realistic LAB-2100 that currently sits in this room won't quite work as the depth is just a hair too much with the 15" front to back. I am not worried however, as I think my B&O RX will fit easily. With it's low profile and top mounted auto controls it should be just dandy. :)

Yes, it's an RX. I also have a 3404 that might end up there instead as it has a worse lid. But I couldn't find the DIN adaptor it needs.

I just decided what to do with the inside of the lid. I always planned to sand & stain, or cover with new felt, but I just realized I should make a pocket or holder for the "now playing" cover. :)

How very cool.. I like that.. .

BUT...

You said to ignore the stuff on top... That one box siting on top.. wasn't that a record box?

I found one very similar, only thinner that was made as a record box... BEAUTIFUL Mahogany.. I cleaned it up.. used it a few years, then sold it before we moved for a heck of a lotta money...

OH.. and what is that cabinet next to this one... That looks like some really beautiful wood.. Got a picture of it?

That was probably an old instrument (as in electronic) or microscope case or something. That was when it was still in the shop and those things come and go all the time, and I don't remember noticing it.

Sorry no pic of that right now. It's a large buffet/sideboard with nice detailing and matched veneer.

Ugh.. You need to notice that stuff... LOL.. me and the wife make a lotta jack off that kinda stuff flipping it, and even if you don't flip it, beautiful wood and I bet LP's would fit in there to hide when not being listened to..

No, it's not that I don't notice stuff like it's just that I see so much of it. I spend a day or 2 almost every week at that shop and it's not a junk store at throwaway prices, it's my friend's antique shop. It's also where I have a shop in the basement and work on a lot of electronic gear. I also help out in other ways upstairs.

Of course, being that connected with it I sometimes do get stuff at throwaway prices so I have to watch myself! :D
