Go with newer CD players.

That said, I've used a Sony CDP-291 POS that was actually pretty good, or any ES model. They're cheap at the thrifts.

As far as a CD player, I would just try to get a $29 DVD player from Best Buy. That way you can play cd's you make on your computer too, and sound should certainly be adequate.

Or score an older Sony on ebay.

I have an old Sony D-640k Car Discman with an audio out line that I'll probably use until I find something better.
I have little faith in the $29 dvd players as the few I've had experience just die within a year. Are there any solid DVD players out there that are affordable? I just got done trying to rescue a slightly over a year old Toshiba DVD player that was about $59 new. It's completely dead but I'm still looking at it to see if there is anything I can see as the problem.

I just purchase a 330b and I gotta say, "very, very impressed with its sound and especially the tuner section. It hold its own, better than my Marantz 2275 and 2230's tuner section" Thumbs up on this little guy!

DaWoofer: Congrats on the purchase. I passed on a Realistic Solid State I saw at the flea market....no $$. Oh well. But my 330c purchase is still going strong. It's just has 1 backlight that is out that I need to replace but since I hadn't even noticed it intitially I know no one else is going to notice. I need to crack it open and DeOxit once more though.

Have any pics???

Hi, not sure if this is the place to jump in but I recently picked up a 330C that is in beautiful condition, the vinyl, case and knobs are superb. Just needed four new lights, I got the bulbs (250mA not 300mA) all the way from the US in under a week - cheaper and easier than getting them here in the UK. It all lights up now.

Well, now I realise the power switch should light up (shouldn't it ??). Any tips on how to get that out, I don't want to jump in and do something stupid.

The unit sounds great, hooked it up with bi-wired Celestion F10's and an old Pioneer CD player (PDS-801). I just love the sound, the radio is great and I am currently listening to a national AM station - superb.

I think I've got the bug for vintage hifi, eBay seems too pricey for these units (is that Christmas or am I just being mean) so I'll be off to scour the charity (Goodwill) shops this weekend. Better leave the missus at home though, but to be fair she is going to let me leave the 330C in the lounge, she even admitted it sounded great. She seems to think 1 is enough though !

Love AK, full of interesting threads and loads of good info, but as I said above, I need some tips on the power switch light swap - couldn't find anything specific in here.

Here's hoping .......

max lemon: Congrats on the 330c find. I've got mine on right now listening to some FM and I just have a few wires hanging off the back for reception. A new antenna is on the "list" to buy.

The power switch should light up when it is powered on but I haven't the faintest idea how to get it out though. I had to look at my unit as I didn't even know if mine worked. It does but it is by no means very bright. This seems like THE 330c thread but you may want to post your ? in a new thread as more people will read it.

Welcome to the forum and be careful with your new hobby as it can be very addicting considering a great deal of these units sound much better than most of what is put out today. And adding the fact that you can find these units for anywhere from $5 to $30 it's just too good of a deal to pass up. That's just my opinion though. I am afraid I am a solid state convert. Post some pics if you can. Everyone likes pictures :D

I was robbed compared to you. I gave a full $10 for mine.
Sometimes you get lucky I picked up my HPM100's for $30 pair at local thrift a couple of months ago but I think they are catching on now. You would'nt think that this amp would drive them but wow they are a nice match
