On another side note I do get this horrible hum which seems to be corrected by tapping and adjusted V1. I've swapped tubes so definitely a bad socket right? I've sprayed tubes and placed them in and out. My next trick is a small swab / toothpick to really clean it out. I'll report back tomorrow.

Damn, wife walks in and says “our MacBook does that to my headphones”.

I tried our iPhone and it’s fine, sounds beautiful. And the phono is mostly good.

After some socket cleaning I think I’m a free man

So the MacBook DAC has the channel imbalance? I thought you had tried swapping the input cables between channels, which would have ruled that out?

Now that this thread has died down and the issues have resolved, I just wanted to thank you all. I've learned quite a bit about tube gear and troubleshooting it from this thread and am greatly appreciative. You all rock.
