There was a 330, 430, 630, 730 and 930; each with increased power over the lower numbered units. They all had twin power transformers and not a bum in the lot. There are those who believe the lower powered units sound better, but I always believed you can't have too much power.
A 430 with some relatively efficient speakers should be sufficient for a small to medium size room at moderate listening levels.

Not the 330.
I know I'm pretty happy with my H+K 730. It has a very pleasing non fatiguing sound. I've never heard a 430 so I can't comment how those 2 compare. I really would like to stumble on a 930 someday to compare to it's little brother.

I have 2 430's, a 730, a 75+ and a Citation Receiver. My brother has had my 930 "on loan" so long, I'm not sure I can still claim it. All of which are twin powered. The 75+ is a quad with the joystick for balance/fade. It's next in line for service/resto.
My first 430 got me into this hobby. It's been a pleasure to own and listen to, and remains in my "vinyl" system to this day.
I've heard/read that some think there were "good" 730's and "bad"730's. I suspect it's just a matter of needing new caps etc. While the 430 is no "monster", I've always thought it had a sweet almost "tube" sound. When paired with vintage Klipsch (or other high efficiency speakers) they are very easy to listen to.
If any AK'ers know of other quad "twins", I'd love to hear about them, and their performance.

I have a couple of tubed Harmon Kardons, 1956 and a 57 model, but recently I traded a used motorcycle tire to a friend for a clean Solid State HK 730 that his lawyer had bought new and owned since his college days and that puppy rates up top with some of my other favorite units in my collection, (Pioneer sx 9000, Nikko STS 7070, lafayette LR 5555A, or the 4channel JVC-Nivico 5444U which puts out 200 watts, or so it says on the front... anyway, it has excellent filters-controls, big sound, nice lights, a fine tuner and is very hefty to pick up.. I can only imagine what a 930 sounds like, but thid one has fast become a player for me.. I like to rotate my units to main players every few months so I can enjoy the different (personalities) of each.

I have an A402/T403 Combo, which is kind of like a separates version of the 'x30' receivers. I'm using the A402 as more of a preamp since the signal is sent to a Citation 16 
I have a HK-670. Twin powered, rated at 60w per channel, from 20 - 20Khz @8 ohms (conservative) have benched it at 85w per channel at 4 ohms. One of the nicest sounding amplifiers I've heard. Unfortunately it is plagued with intermittant toggle switches and noisy pots.

none of the 330s (there was a three thirty, a 330a, 330b, and 330c) were twin powered.

The solid state twin powered that gets the good press is the Citation 12 power amp.

I have had the same experience with an HK receiver.
I had a 560i (not twin) that did with my Heresys what my tube amp should have, but couldn't.
I was ready to write off the Klipsch until I tried the HK combination. The result was a wonderfully sweet sound from those screechy boxes.

Seems there are many hk twin powered units, I think most of their half decent 70s units are. I have had a 430, 730, and my roomate had the 630 and 930. I have recently gotten my hands on a citation receiver, which will have a thread about it as soon as I get some good pictures.

'Me too' my first 430 got me into the hobby, years later I traded it in on a NAD 3020 which was the darling of the audio press at that time but was a real sideways move. The 430 looked better and sounded better. Later I bought a 730 which I still own but rarely use as I got into separates

Actually over the years I would picked up a 430 or a 730 used to get friends into a decent Hi Fi system. Coupled with some Celestion 3 or 5 speakers (which always seemed to be on sale) and say a Rega Planer 2 or 3 (which were never on sale) and one was ready to rock the casabas.
I had also heard that the 430 was special but to be frank I couldn't say it (or they as in twin PS) were really superior to the 730. The 730 seemed to be more substantial under the hood but I never directly compared them. But both had sweet relaxing sound.
That being said they were under powered for say some AR3s or a pair of Yamaha NS1000 speakers which I have tried them with.

im recapping a 630 right now after selling my 930 which was completely recapped.The new owner of the 930 has emailed me a few time since the purchase to repeatedly thk me.Ive owned the 730 as well.Id say the 930 gave me the most joy as it would drive most speakers as I used to run AR's back before I got hooked by tubes.

May be irrelevant but, it seems amongst the Klipsch crowd the 430 holds a special place in their collective hearts. I had a 630 and loved the power amp but the preamp seemed a bit of a weak sister. I inserted a separate preamp when I used it and it showed everyone should have a twin powered HK just for the power amp, it is just that good.
