Has anyone found a pair of speakers and said "I'm done"?

I’ve said I’m done before and then gotten the itch. I’d say I’m done now unless I move and get a different space. The speakers we have now sound great and work nicely in our space.

The great thing (at least to me) is that, buried under the apparent-hoarding, there is a genuine openness to listening around here and I really value this group because of it. Seems always to be a few people at almost every evolutionary stage, too. I think this stuff takes time and I trust a lot of people here because it's clear that sound is important to them. Guys always get to the finish line and have sweet rigs right before they die :)

I’s really love to hear some k-horns with a sweet tube amp sometime. The only Klipsch I’ve ever owned were kg4s mated to a marantz 2252. Never had a more love/hate relationship with speakers.

Wondering if through your audio journey, has anyone found the perfect pair of speakers and said "I'm done", no need to look any further.

Which brand and why?

I'll start: I listen to mainly Jazz, classical, easy listening and pop, some country

(BEST SO FAR)
To me, so far the best speakers I've owned are the B&W DM6's.
Amazing solid build quality, phase time aligned design, silky smooth high's, nice sound stage, accurate vocal midrange and deep bass...

In the running:
I recently acquired a pair of Dahlquist DQ-10's. and with a subwoofer, these things are amazing, maybe better than the DM6's (haven't yet A + B tested side by side) Wide soundstage, beautiful midrange. Drawback, their big and you need a large room to utilize them proper...

yes and no, yes I've found my "only over my dead body" speakers (31yrs ago still with me), no I'm not done getting others, I like variety, plus different speakers for different needs, like 2-channel vs multi-channel, outdoor, etc.

Right now I could be done. Frankly I don’t think my old ears would make my system sound better to me, no matter what I had. However, if something gives up the ghost, I will enjoy the hunt for a replacement.

It kind of amuses me on this site when people have a dozen+ ‘mid-high’ speakers that they swap out. Perhaps sell at least half of them and use the money to buy some truly high-end speakers?

That's what I did. Played with some speakers from DCM, Dahlquist, and Magnepan which was fun and instructive. Along the way I also had a chance to hear a variety of speakers in a nice high end shop - big Vandersteens, some Golden Ear speakers and a variety of Wilson Audio speakers.

The Wilson speakers caught my attention every time I heard them. So I kept an eye out for a used set at a good price. Sold off most of the other speakers along the way. After a couple years of hunting I found a pair of Sophias sharply discounted and brought them home.

Never say never, I suppose, but these speakers make me happy every time I listen to them and I can't see them going anywhere.

After I acquired my Khorns a few years ago I said I was done and I've passed up some nice speakers since then including JBL 4311's needing to be refoamed for $40 or Polk Monitor 10's for free. I just figured I'd let someone else enjoy them although I'll bet they were picked up and resold for a nice profit. The HT system has DQ-20's and ADS speakers, AR5's in the bedroom, M&K S1's, and Dynaco A35's in other rooms, I'm happy with all of them and could listen to any of them for extended periods. I may come across something interesting that I can't resist like the free Speakerlab Super 7's I found (gf had a set of 7's) but there's nothing I really need to upgrade.

I have yet to hear a speaker that was better than my acoustat 2+2. Boston a400’s? Nope.
Adsl1230? Nope!
I have a pair of Energy Veritas 2.8 next to them.
The stats win by having better imaging .
A couple of months ago, I bought a pair of GNP Valkeries from a guy that makes ribbon speakers . I heard the totl set that he sells for $50k. Sounded great, had fuller sound than my stats but that could be effect of a much bigger room as these bad boys were about 6’ away from the wall!
I don’t think I’ll find anything better sounding than a pair of full range ‘stats.

Been through many speakers and just bought a pair of Revels Concerta2 F36 and so far I can say I've never had or heard speakers that sounded so good and I think that these will indeed be my last speaker
