Help identify Vector speakers

Hi,

I got a pair of Vector speakers without model numbers on the cabinets. It is 14 inches tall. Google image search didn't give useful info. Please help.

Looks like decent components, but the simple hole in the baffle, rather than a tube or vent, and the fact that the hole hasn't been sprayed to match the front, suggests a lower end effort. I'd assumed they were a Vector Research product, but see no sign that the speakers are related to VR, which was a shortlived but respectable maker sort of like NAD or Proton - not a known company, but offering well made products at attractive prices. That combination can present problems - all of them have iffy long term reliability issues though, to be fair, no one thought they'd be in use more than a couple of years, so harrumphing at component problems 50s years later seems self indulgent.
The question that matters, though, is how do they sound? If you like them, they are good. And if you don't, recap the crossovers and see what you think - don't spend a lot on crossovers - just use the same value electrolytics, which sound cost a couple of bucks. If, after you decide you like them, you can always spend hundreds on fancy caps.

Hi,

Thanks for all the inputs. I recently CCleanered my laptop and lost my access to this site. The speakers sound pretty musical and I don't have plans to recap them.
Sort of addicted to vintage speakers --- buy, enjoy and flip such that this hobby can be sustainable.

With the large rear label and the name, it appears they attempted to copy "The Advent Loudspeaker".

Paper labels on the back were pretty common in the 60s - Advent was following AR and KLH in having them, but they were by no means unusual in that regard.

Thanks. I wasn't into HiFi in the 60s so not too knowledgeable in that regard. But I believe in naming their speaker "The Vector Loudspeaker" was at the least homage towards the Advent creation.
