Help! Squirrel trapped in my speakers!

People think squirrels are cute, but they're often people who have never had them in their house / attic / garage. They're an invasive and destructive pest.

At a previous house, I had to set a cage trap to get the one(s) that got into my attic in the winter. And if it wasn't for the presence of my wife and daughter, I would give every trapped squirrel a "Tony Soprano special," if you know what I mean. Instead, I usually (reluctantly) drive them to a nearby golf course, and let them go there.
 
The solution is obvious my good man. As in so many similar cases; you can never go wrong with "small caliber/ high rater of fire". Show the rodent no mercy..........
 
Hope that you can get a replacement speaker. At least, you have a sense of humour about it all.
I think using the dog as a "Woofer", would result in "Growly" music.........
 
Thank you for my laugh for the day! I empathize with you as I have 5 black walnut trees behind my property, thus about 30 squirrels at most times. They will come up on the deck, sit on the rail and look in the house for my 2 Westies. It is attack, counter attack ALL day.watchers.jpg
 
So guys, i think i saved the speaker! I reconed it but still waiting on glue to dry. The other speaker is still original, do you think the differemce will be noticeable? I could recone the other speaker as well but would rather avoid that if possible.
 
Haha, fortunately no.other squirrel encounters yet. I suppose i should probably just play it by ear. How long should i let the recone job break in before i compare the 2 speakers and make my decision?
 
My Rat Terrier hated squirrels. Would go after them any chance he got. But same story on mice too. Checked the car one day found their stash on top of the engine intake manifold (V6). Got rid of the acorns. Good luck on the CV.
 
There will probably be a measured difference. Will you hear it? Don’t know. All you can do is try.
My problem would be the look. The new cone is going to,,, well, look new, and the old one will look old.
That would bother me so much I’d re-cone the other one. But I’m weird like that.

See, thats where im at with it too. Ill probably end up reconing the other woofer eventually just so they look the same.

Glad to hear you re coned the speaker.
I would expect the differences will be minimal to slight. A few factors:
1. You are listening carefully because you know this speaker has been repaired. So you will tend to dwell on it.
2. Music tends not to be identical on a system left and right, as it is a stereo sound reproduction.
3. Not all amps may be identically balanced exactly the same left and right. Lots if factors age, wire, parts degredation, manufacturing quality control.
4. Unless your ears are perfect, your room perfect etc..... I doubt you will notice unless you listen to high quality test tones instead of music or voice.
5. A lot of people get hung up on graphs and charts and specs about stereo equipment....... in reality about 60% or more of it means nothing, as our ears cannot hear those differences.

In the event there is a huge difference, either the re cone job is not correctly done, or re cone the other side too.

Just start listening. The so called "break in" is going to happen anyway. So forget about it...
