HH Scott Owners Thread

Hey WC,,, been a while!!!!
I do have a nice pair of Fisher 600 OPTs I got from Gadget, years ago,,,, consensus is they will work fine,, with some FB mods,,, But this is the only Scott I ever had,,, and I'd like to get it as original as I can,,, It already sounds outstanding,, with all teh Bass and Treble plus mids you could want,,,
K'town is coming up in a couple weeks,, and maybe I can find an orphan there, as I really dont want to steal one from a complete Scott amp!!! I'd trade the pair of Fishers for a good original for the Scott!!!

Re: modern tubes. I set my 222c up with a little lower screen grid voltage. Stock is a 1.2K resistor over the 8K stick resistor, for ~360v. Swap the 1.2K for a 3.3K and screens come down to ~315v, pretty close to the spec sheet 400v plates, 300v screens, 8K a-a load.
JJ EL84 we're a little scratchy and nervous sounding before, became very easy to listen to after.
Stock Telefunken & RCA vintage tubes still sounded like MAGIC. Sad those days are gone.

I had a Chocolate face Lk-72.That amp was the amp that got me into vintage hi-fi and down a deep rabbit hole of collecting hi-fi gear.
Out of all the gear I bought and sold I regret the lk-72 is at the top of the list.I do intend to replace it someday if a nice clean example comes along like the one I owned for $50 I'll buy it lol.

I actually landed that one on eBay a few weeks back for under $250. I was shocked it was posted for so low. It’s in really clean shape.

I had a few amps like that, one a Panasonic and the other was a marantz 250 and 250M with those T066 outputs that are next to impossible to find.
 
yep, well understood!!! this was gifted to me by a good friend I go Hamfesting with,,, I got signal thru it to a burned up output board and output transistors,,,,
I have a matching quad of outputs for it,,, but need a few for the bad board,,,,
This guy isn't a priority,, as me and my eyes get older tho,,, SS stuff is hard to see!!!

S.S gear was ignorance on my part when I first started out collecting .I basically ignored S.S gear although I did buy some but passed on alot . Hindsight is 20/20 and to think of all that nice high end s.s gear I could of bought cheap back in the late 80's early 90's I could of been sitting on a fortune as I rarely sell gear .

Yea me too, but I don’t do this for the $$ I’m sure I have some stuff that if sold would give me a few bucks. Just to much work to try to sale it. I just focus on stuff I like. I just figure when I die and all this crap ends up at a thrift store someone will get a killer deal lol

Totally understandable .I was never in it for $ either just a collector and if I sold something it was towards something that I'd been looking for such as a rare unheard of piece of equipment or something that was under the radar.
All in all I'm basically down to 3 setups after downsizing a bit .

I have 2-3 systems in my living room, stereo and mono. I really enjoy tinkering with gear, swapping amps and speakers and cables. I build custom cables for fun, I also use to conduct a lot of restoration work but I’ve slowed down a lot. We purchased a house a few years back and started some renovations on it so that’s been keeping me busy and keeping me from spending money on gear. I’m at a point in life where I can enjoy what I have and don’t care to upgrade much. I’ll still hunt but it’s rare I buy anything half the time I trade gear for gear.

Current projects tho is I have a fellow AKer who has a set of my SC AP-428s that he’s restoring for me, and I have a few sets of Eico HF-30s both the 7 and 8 tube sets that I want to have done next.

My idea was to work a deal with someone to restore a set for me and I’d give them a set for the work. I have so much gear I’d rather just trade it off for work. That would allow a good tech to make a few extra bucks or get some cool gear for labor.

Lately I’ve been focusing on buying actual LPs and CDs.
