HH Scott Owners Thread

Maybe it’s just me, But I have to say, that’s a pretty butt ugly cage! I can see why every pic of the 150 is without the cage!
 
It's a real sleeper, It would certainly get passed by at a flea market, if you didn't know what it is, a few years ago... The 280 is also uglier in person, I worked on one with my friend many years ago.Those pot metal sides would have been 10x better as wood.
 
So I'm a bit late on getting in on this thread.......but hopefully not 'too' late! Attached is a pic of a cabinet where I keep a portion of my Scott collection. This cabinet contains all 5 of the 299 series of amps, a 233, 4 different versions of LK amps, and all 4 of the 222 series. As an aside, all these amps came to me 'dis-functional'. And, each one was 'fixed' by me. I think it's fair to say that a good amount of my 'education' was achieved from what I learned by fixing these things. I think this is about half of the Scott amps I actually own, and for the first time I'm actually working on one now that's giving me fits!!. I'll be starting a separate thread on it later this evening. But, I love these amps.......and while I've had great fun in having done all the work to them, I fear the time is swiftly coming where I'm going to have to start considering the reality of parting with them. If so, I'd be interested in what you all think about the wisdom or logic of attempting to 'off' them as complete package vs just putting them out there one at a time? I will mention that probably half of these amps haven't been plugged and turned on in 10 to 15 years. The other half probably hasn't seen voltage in 5 to 10 years. That said, each one worked beautifully when I 'shelfed' 'em! OK........off to go start my thread (and watch the Ravens game! ) TSD

Good point! I was thinking more about just keeping the collection as 'complete' as possible. Probably plenty of others have equal collections......so perhaps not so valuable as a collection. And, it's still missing a few key entries......and at this point I probably will never have the chance to own them. Those EL34 Scott amps are commanding a pretty high price these days. Wish I owned one.......... keeping my fingers crossed!
 
Next time I have a purge, I will be selling one at a time, even pairs of monos, although I will sell the pairs at the same time in separate auctions, so someone that wants to have both, they can. I did this with a par of Dynaco Mark 3's the better one went off 15 minutes earlier than the other one. A buyer wanted me to guarantee he would get both, which I would not, I told him that the better one would go for more, so the later one would likely sell for less, so if he won the first, likely he would get the second, which was what happened.

Daev Roehr was a regular Scott Forum thread poster when the Forum was running. I had many dialogs with him. But that forum is long gone and I am not sure if Daev is still into this stuff. Talking a lot of years ago.

Nice collection, you must be my polar opposite with you having a wall of Scott's and me having a wall of Fisher's. :p
Since this thread is all things Scott I will refrain from posting the Fisher wall. ;)

But I have a nice collection of Scott's, no extra room for more, although it's tempting.:thumbsup:

I finally found this page (I think) and posted a picture and comment and it went away. Maybe waiting for the owner to approve? It said that there were no posts yet.
