Hinges for a Technics SL-D2?

I have a D2, and some hinges from an SL-23. If they're the same, I'll drop you a PM tonight.

I can't recall- are the D2 dustcovers twin slot for the hinges or single slot for the hinges?

If twin slot, you can buy new SL-1200 hinges from KAB that will work.

Dust covers and hinges on the SL-D2 are very different from the SL-1200 family. They don't interchange. You'll need to find a parts donor. The tabs where the dustcover goes into the hinges are commonly broken off. :tresbon:

I trust Kent's words.

Not only is he good looking, but he's smart as well. :)

However, you may be able to adapt the hinges and perhaps dust cover from an SL-1200 to a D2.

I've swapped many a cover over the years betwixt many technics models...

Did you ever fix your dustcover or find a new one? The reason I ask is that there's a very fine balance point between the cover staying up or flopping down. Any change in the geometry of a repaired cover could cause it to not stay up. Even an out of level plinth could make the difference with aging hinges. If they were screw-on hinges, you could shim them, but they're not.

In any event, I have a pair of SL-D2 hinges if you still need them. I tested them, they hold.

Yes, Gary, you're right, and that's the reason why I chose to pull the hinges off and attempt to stiffen them up by squeeze them laterally in a pair of multi-grips. I didn't realise they were so weak, and one of them broke:no: I think I may try buying a set of SL1200 hinges, and adapting them. However, I also know that the 1200 covers are bigger and therefore heavier, so I'm not sure if the cover, once adapted will stay down!

Anyone know where I can get hinges for a Technics SL-D2?

I have an SL-D2 as well whose hinges are now so weak, they're useless holding up the cover. Can anyone source replacement hinges (that are strong enough to keep the cover up) or suggest novel work arounds? Thanks
Michael

Looking for a solution too!

I have exactly the same issue. I am wondering if it is not possible to tighten them in a way?
