How do you say...Kabuki!

I have given my kids Kabuki speakers for their college rigs and they freakin' think they are the bomb! My youngest called me up to see if it was OK to play 'em with the grills off...appearance is everything :smoke:

That's not kabuki that's a 3-way system consisting of a woofer tweeter and midrange speaker. Sansui speakers are not real high end but i love my pair of sp-3500 speakers. high quality cabinets and drivers designed by jbl. now the x-9000 speakers are true kabuki 7 drivers but i sold my friend a pair and they sound reasonable.

Also the sansui speakers the op posted have a 12'' woofer a 12'' passive radiator a mid and a tweeter i have not heard them but i wouldn't rule them as crap either.

The title should have been. How Do You Say Ignorant:D

Many Sansui speakers sound much better than they look.

I had some Sansui speakers that looked pretty silly with the grills off.

They sounded really good for what they were made from.

I've heard some similar Sansuis that weren't that bad. They had them set up outdoors playing music at a reception.

I'm curious 4-2-7 what in my post was ignorant since you quoted me? a 3-way speaker system is not really kabuki. Or is it?

They may be Kabuki but they are good Kabuki.

Kabuki is often meant in a derogatory way but they were very popular for good reason. While they may not measure up to many of our reference speakers they sure provide plenty of good sounds to the majority of their owners.

Your post was not ignorant.
The title to the thread and OP that started it would in my opinion fit that category.
