I wonder if some young person that has never heard of using a record for anything but scratching, might really believe this. That ad may be as serious as a heart attack. Man, is there anything more disappointing than opening the top on a console and seeing an 8 track player.:thumbsdn:
Oh heck yes, I had a Craig under the dash hanger in my 68 Javelin AMX. I especially remember when Frampton Comes Alive and Bob Seegars Live Bullet came out. Those two and a couple Ted Nugents would get tight and you'd have to pull out about 6 feet of tape, then pull it just right and it would suck back in. You guys remember doing that, it would get you a couple more weeks out of a tape if you were good at it.
Of course then cassettes came out and we were in the space age with things like auto reverse, and even auto track finder.

Funny you say that, happened to me just this week. Promise of a "real old, hardwood console with a stereo and turntable inside."
The reality turned out to be a dark-stained kitschy pine console with an 8-track and record player inside. -sigh-
