I wonder if some young person that has never heard of using a record for anything but scratching, might really believe this. That ad may be as serious as a heart attack. Man, is there anything more disappointing than opening the top on a console and seeing an 8 track player.:thumbsdn:

Not only disappointing ...but in addition....it really ages me....that someone might think an 8 track player...is an antique.

To me....they were newfangled..

Oh heck yes, I had a Craig under the dash hanger in my 68 Javelin AMX. I especially remember when Frampton Comes Alive and Bob Seegars Live Bullet came out. Those two and a couple Ted Nugents would get tight and you'd have to pull out about 6 feet of tape, then pull it just right and it would suck back in. You guys remember doing that, it would get you a couple more weeks out of a tape if you were good at it.:smoke:
Of course then cassettes came out and we were in the space age with things like auto reverse, and even auto track finder.

this remind me, not long ago, when I was in goodwill. and over heard a ground of 20s discuss how cool they found those black CDs here.

Of course the 8-track tape was a big improvement over the 4-track format...and now I feel really old.

Funny you say that, happened to me just this week. Promise of a "real old, hardwood console with a stereo and turntable inside."
The reality turned out to be a dark-stained kitschy pine console with an 8-track and record player inside. -sigh-
