Like PT Barnum said, there's a sucker born every minute. Might as well throw out some crazy a$$ number and see if you get a bite. It doesn't hurt. Who knows... maybe there's a collector of antique German audio consoles who has more dollars than cents who's looking for just this item to complete his uber-exclusive collection and will pay any amount for just such a device.

Never hurts to try.

It's worth something to someone. The hard part about consoles is finding that someone. In general they don't have much collector value and it's even harder trying to find someone willing to pay the hundreds of dollars to ship one safely.

Keep an eye on CL, you'll see consoles start at $300+ and 6 months later they'll be down to $50 OBO because they have gotten zero responses. Unless the seller can prove that this console is really something special they will be lucky to get $100 for it.

Probably $50-$100 most places on most days. I know of a local shop who has a beautiful Grundig Art Deco stereo console/bar unit priced at $650. It's never sold, and since they're always listening to it I think the price is more of a strategy than a serious attempt to sell.

Maybe I can "assist" our illustrious owner, who obviously neglected to mention how that WW2 Grandpa set up this, the first ever Euro stereo, over in Europe for Hendrix to use and he practice-played through it before he loaned it to the Who by way of the Stones. :yes: :scratch2:

There's a lot wrong with this guys listing. Not least of which is the fact that stereo didn't hit the popular market until after the Korean War, so this couldn't be stereo and have been purchased during WWII.

Also, does "MINT condition" mean that it all works as new? He's not really clear on that.

Anyway, as Jimfet said a few posts back "He's gonna get his feelings hurt when he has it appraised."

This is a MINT condition antique German record changer and radio with built in shelf and headphones with original papers. It was owned by my German grandfather who probably got it in WW2, which he was in.

Yes the asking price is correct. If no one purchases off of Craigslist or Ebay we are taking this to some of the top selling antique appraisal and auction shows in the nation. However, it was recommended that we try to sell on our own to gain the most profit in our antique rather than giving a percentage to the company that would help us sell this. Please, if you are a collector, this piece will not disappoint! Plus, you would be making my family very happy for we are not in a very good financial place in our lives at this time. Hmmmm.... looks kinda worn along the edges (granted, I don't see any notable scuffs or scratches), but I wouldn't call that cabinet mint. Why do I get the feeling that when he says "stereo" he's really referring to that special kind of stereo that you only need one speaker for?

Hmmmm.... World War II lasted into the early 60s? That's news to me. That tone arm looks like it was made from cast iron.
