NT, out of the people, you should know best about Porsche profits. You drive a Cayenne Turbo. Take a $40k VW Touareg chassis, drop a turbo engine in it, a few suspension mods and cosmetic tweaks and charge $100k for it. Not too bad, we should all be so financially savvy.

Yup, all true. I drove a Touareg before I bought the Turbo, and it's actually a more pleasant car in many respects. The Cayenne handles better than any SUV I've driven (including the VW), but it's got a lot of problems. I hear the new 08 models are better, even though they look almost the same, but I'll not make the same gamble twice.

The Panamera is being developed by Porsche at full cost, with no other mfr to spread the volume around like the Cayenne/Touareg. It's not an SUV, so production costs will be high, like the 911. Ugly, it's unlikely to sell well, but folks said that about the Cayenne, too.

I wish them well, but the C4Cab and the Cayenne have both been so problematic, I'm just not gonna take that plunge again... and the GT Speed is soooo much more comfy.

You mentioned earlier that you want the GT speed because of the increase of HP, Torque and better handling. I drove my friends GT, I can tell you that the 48HP difference will not be noticeable in a 5400lb car. I doubt you'll be throwing it around corners either to appreciate what ever difference the suspension tweaks may bring. If I was in the market for one, which I am not as cars that weigh more than SUVs just don't do anything for me, no matter what the brand is, I would go for the $80k discount you could easily get on a slightly used one.

I drive up and down the Mt. Rose Hwy, NV SR 431, at least once a week. It goes from 4,200 ft up to 8,911 and back down to 6,200 with twists and winds a lot of the way. When the tourists aren't holding things up, it's a very fun drive, and in the winter, heavier cars go much better in snow. I still want one! :D

Didn't want to make it sound like I was talking you out of it, just pointing out some small things and the fact they can be had for a great deal less. Good luck with it! Post some pics when you do get it.

I'd take this 911, but not so sure about the new one...

Porsche ? Here in France i have an Audi Allroad 4.2... 300hp.... its useless.... you can't drive fast anymore. its a non stop frustration... and now we have points on our driving licence that "they" take away for every speed driving...12 of them, and they melt like snow on the sun if you drive fast...
As with my MC ....

This would be an easy decision for me. I would not look twice at the Porche and would take the Mcintosh system.
.....that's pretty much how I feel also....with the cost of gas, I am happy to continue getting 40+ a gallon with my Kia Rio....there would be a problem also though, with the XRT2K's and MC2KW's....I would have to come up with some choice additions of McIntosh pieces to go with the speakers and amps.....

.....who knows, I might take the car, sell it immediately, and pick up a SLEW of used 501's and 1201's along with a C2200 for the present system....yep, that's what I would do....go ahead and ship me that Porche, Serge.....

Well, I didn't win any contests....:tears: So I had to pay for this one. :D
Guess the MC501s+Sonus Fabers will have to do for now, will just have to wait 'till Ivan upgrades his XRT2K's and MC2KW's to newer models and buy his used.
