I HATE deer

We drive the "deer-conic" parkway every year going from point A to point B.

We've never counted less than 100 deer on our way through.

Northbound we always hit it at dusk, the worst time for road deer.

We got a heavy duty Austrailian "roo bar" for the front of the truck-a-saurous.

Wouldn't you know we got T-boned by two deer running a race across the 4 lanes.

Sometimes you just can't win

.

Ya know....for animals that are SO damned smart in the woods, deer don`t know **** about traffic ! Years ago, on a late November night (prime deer mating season), I was stopped at a railroad crossing, waiting for a train to pass. Out of the woods, to my left, a doe comes flying across the road just missing the front of my car. A second later, a BIG buck comes charging out, and runs smack into the fender of my car, scaring the **** out of me. He just shook himself off, and bolted across the road after that doe....

Once had a doe run into the side of my car and go up over the hood. Took out my mirror. Newer car, so it's one of those heated brainiac mirrors.

Ok, so I call the insurance co. The adjuster comes, looks over the car - there's a chunk of fur on the car still. Bonus: That makes it comprehensive, not collision.

Deer are freaking stupid!

Thank god we don't have these over here. They hit cars on purpose and enjoy it!

It's mainly dusk where I worry about these four-legged destructors. And since I'm driving out west again twice this year, I will be keeping a sharp eye out for them. Some parts of Colorado just warn of "wildlife" vs. calling out deer specifically. At least with cruise control, I can drive with my foot hovering right over the brake at all times. Uncomfortable, but I do it near wooded areas and other spots where I see deer/wildlife signs.

I guess it took a couple of decades to figure out those deer whistles mounted on front bumpers don't work, huh? ;)

I've always thought a "screaming Ted Nugent" sound from a megaphone on the front of the car should keep them away. :D

I wonder what the pests think of us....it only took us 250 years to infest the continent...:)

Animals aren't doing more or less than what comes naturally to them. The un-natural part is us removing their natural predators.

Now we have deer starving to death every winter where I live, and it's illegal to feed them.

Why can't we feed them food laced with contraceptives?

I do not hunt and have no interest to do it myself, but am supportive of responsible animal husbandry game management via ethical hunting.
