I HATE deer

I have no idea if this indicates an improvement or deer have always more apt to recognize slower vehicles, but more than once we've had a doe step out on the bike trail and block the trail while a couple\three fawn get across.

I'm talking bicycles and only a few - probably a bunch of cyclists would scare them. We just stopped and waited.

IMO, there are\is no wildlife that can handle the concept of a large mass moving 50mph+.
 
You call that little boo-boo damage. When I truck shop, most of the trucks I look at look like THAT!

I know it's easy to blame the deer, but, have you thought, maybe that truck ATTRACTS DEER. We used to have a truck that attracted cattle. One morning my wife drove out the driveway, and most of our neighbor's cattle herd showed up and followed her out our driveway and down the township road until she outran them! (It seems our failing muffler made our pickup sound like the truck the neighbor used to take hay to his cows!)

I'm late to the thread, but I don't wish that on anyone. Your damage looks fixable though. I've seen cars totally trashed from hitting deer, oxen, etc. It goes without saying that they don't make them like they used to. Its a late 70's dodge, about '78 right???
 
hey whats the latest on this? gene had your parts at carlisle, but dayam, they are 3x as pricey as ford or chevy as there is just nothing left out there...all gone, not many made, etc what is insurance doing?

The National Pest of Texas, and many surrounding states. Some small towns in Texas have more wild pigs than people. 'Kill 'em all". Pennsylvania and Michigan might be the top 2 Deer states for problem deer, but Oak Ridge, Tennessee is no picnic. The Y-12 Reservation has controlled deer hunts, if you're lucky you even get to take your deer home. After all, some of those deer are "Hot" i.e. "They Glow In The Dark" and deer are everywhere, including in the city proper. And Oak Ridge, TN body shops stay busy, especially with our heavy deer population. "Did ya get da Turdy Pointer?"

I got my measly insurance check. I am in the middle of working on my F250, plus my mom is in the hospital right now. So, I don't know when (or if) I will get to the Dodge any time soon.

I might just unload it when I get the F250 going. I don't really need two trucks. If I keep it, I'll probably order a new set of aftermarket fenders, headlight doors and a grille, and get the bumper, grille shell, and filler panel from the local u-pull-it junkyard. Actually, for what they charge, I should make it a point to grab that stuff while they still have it.
 
"Borrowed" from another forum...this one hit a deer in mid-air on the PA Turnpike.

Total bill to fix was around $21k (to the insurance company)...and it's still not right.
