I need a dummy plug or remote control RC-20 for Akai X-330, or instructions on how to bypass dummy plug

I need to find a dummy plug for the remote socket on Akai X-330, or the remote control unit RC-20 or instructions on how to bypass dummy plug (hardwire)

I've seen dummy plug wiring shown in some Teac service manuals. Does your Akai SM show dummy plug jumpers? Is a dummy plug required? The X-330 owner manual just says plug remote in, doesn't mention remove a dummy plug unless its mentioned elsewhere.

I once had a friend show me how to hardwire a TEAC A 4010 where the dummy plug was missing, so I know it can be done, but as far as I can see the X-330 service manual does not show dummy plug jumpers. I am pretty sure the dummy is required. What I find very odd is your owners manual on point 18 seems to be missing the last sentence mine shows. "Caution: do not forget to insert the DUMMY PLUG to REMOTE CONTROL JACK when the remote control (RC-20) is not used." Exact quote. I am baffled by this. This X-330 was my brother's machine, almost never used, (he says less than 50 hours) and my sister-in-law is sending it to me as he passed away last month. The pictures she sent of the back of the machine shows the remote socket where the dummy plug goes, but no plug, and she tells me she is pretty sure he used to have a remote for the machine but she cannot find it. I suspect hardwiring jumpers on inside of machine would work as well as a dummy plug, but looking at the service manual schematics I'm not experienced enough to figure out how to do it. The buddy who walked me through the jumper thing on that Teac A 4010 just told me what # pin on the socket to jump to another numbered pin. Wish he was still around.

While searching I found some posts on another forum that said the 330D requires a jumper plug, but not the 330. In the X-330 user manual, the pic of remote control is on page 32.

Two pics below of 330D manual are snagged from the link posted below from a 330D user manual.

A screenshot from a Bigg Matt demo video of an Akai X-330, no dummy plug in rear at 3:39.

From the X330 Operator's Manual, it says that the Remote Control an optional accessory.
Taking a quick look at the SM schematic, it looks like there are no jumpers needed (or at most 1, I don't know what SWO11 does).

My bad typing missprint...I need it for an Akai X-330D. You would not think so looking at an X-330 schematic, but for some reason the X-330D DOES require a jumper plug to operate, so until I get this little brain twister solved the machine is dead in the water, as shame since it's practically with less than 50 hours on it.

Maybe look at the X-360 socket/dummy plug/remote wiring to see if you can extrapolate what needs to be connected on the X-330. I used some 12 or 14 gauge solid wire to make jumpers while I was looking for a plug for my X-360 . . .

That doesn't make sense according to the schematic. See my color coding. You can open the recorder up and verify the wiring.
Looks like Pin 11 is N/C.
To me, it looks like the switches on the remote are in parallel with the switch on the tape recorder so you should be able to push one or the other and produce the same function.
The only odd one is the REW and F. FWD are in series so you can't press both.

@borchee, I read that the difference between the X330 and X330D is that the D does not have the speakers and amplifiers so I would guess that you do not need that voltage to be provided by the PS.

I meant to look up what the jumpers do in X-360/D (or another deck using the same dummy plug), as suggested in post #13 as well, and see, if it can be implemented with the X-330D.
Just asking Scott would perhaps clear the mistery?

I assume you've tried to run it without the remote or dummy plug present. Looking at the schematic, I don't think there are any jumpers on pins 1 ~ 7. Pins 8 ~ 10 are not as clear whether they need jumpers or not but those are for direction change. This thread seems to indicate that the remote and dummy plug are not required to operate the deck:

The schematic for the Mecha & Power Supply Schematic that I posted in Post #10 says it is the same for the X330 and X330D.
I also traced the signals and all they seem to do is parallel the transport buttons on the deck.
My suggestion is to open it up and put a meter on each of the buttons and see if the button press is recognized by the circuit, simple?
