I Recently Became An Audiophile.

Not my experience at all. I've heard more really good sounding solid-state amps than tube amps over the years. Our tastes are obviously different. We should all be glad that we have a large menu to choose from.

that is fine. would agree on the tastes difference. If a person listens to some of the more modern tube amps, they are quite different than the tube amps from the 1960s.

You might want to look at stuff like this to get your feet wet. Can you cancel what you ordered?

I think you may be confused. Your235 can be used AS a Pre Amp sending the signal to various standalone Amps, but not the other way around.
I got a tube preamp so I can feed my audio through it, then to a solid state amp, and finally through my speakers. that’s how it works right?

I will say, I might get a preamp, since they're much cheaper. All you have to do is thread the SS amp output through the preamp and then the speakers, right?
Be sure the impedance ratio match between the pre-amp output and amp input is okay.

Those values should be included in the tech specs of each unit.

That is how it works, but you cannot feed a standalone Pre into this AVR, there are no PRE-IN jacks, only PRE OUT meaning the AVR can be the Pre if you had a standalone AMP to feed with it. If you have a pre coming, you will still need an amp that can be configured properly. An AVR is not used in this way and provides the pre outs so you can use beefier amps to feed your speakers if you want.

The preamp that I ordered has an outlet, don’t worry bout it. I’ll just feed the pre out into the CD player jack, it should work fine. My 8track amp has a pre in anyways, so I can just use my 8track amp, even if it won’t sound as good
