I Recently Became An Audiophile.

On LP at least there's an excuse. You're pressing on a multi-colored vinyl. In this case, the label is one side, and the sound is the other.
But, having seen IM years ago (nephew wanted to see them), I''d just point out they were playing the victim card years before it was fashionable.

My nephew and I saw them after they got to do big shows, lots of props, and they kept talking about how they were being mistreated. It might have worked when they were starting out but when they've actually made it, it comes across as whining. It was at the xfinity in Mansfield (depending on year capacity 12,000 or 19,000).
But to the sound quality being bad, it would indicate they just didn't care. They could have taken multitrack feed from the soundboard.

Interesting. I don't give a rats arse about controversy so I can't say I care. Good to know though. As for the sound quality, that makes sense to me. It seems like a lot more artists these days do that.
 
Hello all! I am back from winter break. Happy New Year everyone! this Christmas I got that phono preamp I was wanting, and I gotta say, it sounds great! Also, the AKG K712s that I ordered back on the 14th arrived, and I gotta say, they sound really good. I also went record shopping and got myself a record from New Order, which I listened to last night.
 
Friday was my bday, and I took my friends out for ramen and got a couple of new vinyls, specifically another brick in the wall by Pink Floyd, Automatic For the People by REM, and Ten by Pearl Jam. Super excited to listen to all of them, and I hope they sound great.
 
Update: My extremely generous grandparents (bless them) sent me a very large check, and I am well on my way to being able to get that Technics 1200. @malden thank you for the turntable recommendation, I highly appreciate it.

Nice! My record collection was kickstarted by my neighbor, who gave me a bunch of her old records and a Victrola record player. I quickly got rid of that and bought myself a decent sony turntable, along with more records that I liked, slowly expanding my collection over the years.
 
Life update:
So I got some bad news and some good news about my turntable situation
Let’s start out with the bad news, which is the fact that my Sony LX-250 spins slightly faster than 33 rpm, distorting the music, and making it near unlistenable for me. This means I can’t play any of my new records, which sucks
The good news is that I saved up enough for a technics 1200 from eBay (the seller said it was in good condition, and is shipping without the cart) and that’s on its way, due to arrive the 26th of January.
This thread is now, oh, 4 months old, and over this time I’ve grown a lot. Thank you all for helping me on this journey down the rabbit hole
