improving bass on Cornwall II ?

But even "optimized" tuning for the box, without boomyness will result in a higher bass cutoff if the correct volume of air isn't there.
 
Out of curiousity: if I added a separate 1x15" cab underneath the CW & hooked it into the x-over network, it wouldn't screw up the CW design and would be it's own sealed enclosure: easier?

I don't know where you got those definitions from, but I would strongly disagree with #2. Speculation to me includes the possibility that it may not be true. Which is why it's speculation?

It does not sound like your interpretation of the word is correct, but no one's being padantic.

Update: I measured the resistance of the other woofer & it's 6.3 ohms too. So an 8 ohm speaker. Even though it's stamped Klipsch K34E on the magnet. It's an Eminence like the other one.

Did Klipsch ever make/use 8 ohm K34E's, for any of their other speakers?

I also got a new pair of 4ohm K33E's to replace them. They're Eminence as well.

Use the 4 ohm versions and your Bass will improve.

These sound really good now. No subwoofer needed. Bass is not obnoxious, it's just *there* finally.

Like if you're swimming in the ocean and a huge slow wave passes, you can feel the mass.

Spinning some techno to break them in a bit: it sounds awesome too & I don't normally listen to techno much.

Either it was a wrong voice coil used at Eminence factory or someone reconed the frame with the wrong parts. Conwalls always used the same 4 ohm woofer as the Khorn from day one.

I'm glad you found the partial root cause. I was starting to worry. No one, not ever magazine reviewers ever said anything but "Awesome Bass" when writing about what they heard.
 
I think it improved the high end too: on "Any colour you like" from Dark Side of the Moon, the gtr used to take my head off when it came in. It's much smoother now.

I have a new set of caps from Deang, phase 2 will be installing those. But I wanted to make sure it works & will listen to it stock for a while.

If you like rock, try 311’s Transistor CD/album. It is ripe with electric bass riffs that are phenomenal.

I can't believe how different these speakers sound now. I was listening to them for years, completely unaware of the parts mismatches. Thus adding two subwoofers to fill them out.

They've broken in nicely: One of the new K33's was defective & was replaced on day 2. There was a difference between the old & replaced K33 due to just 24 hours of play time. But they've balanced out now.

I am really enjoying the full, natural ( for lack of a better term? ) low end.

What a disaster though! Funny reading back thru the thread.
